Q4. Describe the claims procedure as provided in the
PLI Act 1991.
Ans. The Collector, having jurisdiction over the area in which
the accident occurs, is empowered to hold an enquiry
into any claim under the act and to make an award of
relief which appears to him to be just and to specify the
person to whom the amount of relief shall be paid.
An application for claim for relief may be made in
prescribed form (within 5 yrs of the occurrence of the
accident) by :
(a) The person who has sustained the injury.
(b) By the legal representative of the deceased, in the
event of death.
(c) By the owner of the property of damaged in the
accident.
(d) By any agent duly authorized by the persons
claiming relief.
Q5. Mention the risks excluded under public liability
policy (industrial risks) which :
(a) can be covered at extra premium.
(b) can be covered under other policies.
(c) one excluded on grounds of public policy.
