Ans. Usually the material damage and loss of profits policies
         is given to the same surveyor for loss assessment.
         However, sometimes different surveyors can get
         appointed due to different in circumstances.

The insurers try to furnish the surveyors with all
necessary particulars of the insurance, including a copy
of the policy, to enable him to act on their behalf with
the full knowledge of the extent of liability.

Full cooperation between the surveyor and the insurer
is very important in all types of insurance, but mostly in
consequential losses, which calls for special knowledge
of the policy as well as the practical work of supervising
clearance of debris and instituting steps for hastening
resumption of work.

There are several responsibilities of the surveyor:
(i) Once it is clear that the liability for the loss attached

    to the material damage policy, the surveyor makes
    certain that the peril causing the loss is also covered
    by the policy.
