Taxi Car: Includes
i) Taxis or Private Car Type Vehicles plying for public
hire.
ii) Private Type Taxis let out on Private Hire direct
from the Owner with or without meters and driven
by the Owner or an employee of the Owner.
iii) Private Car type vehicles let out on Private Hire
and driven by the Hirer or any driver with his
permission.
iv) Private Car Type Vehicles owned by Hotels and
hired by them to their guests.
Miscellaneous and Special Type Vehicles: These are
Ambulance, Breakdown Vehicles, Dumpers,
Dispensaries, Excavators, Hearses, Plane loader,
Tractors, Trailers, Refuse Carts, Mobile shops, Electrical
Trolleys Footpath rollers etc. These vehicles are insured
under commercial vehicle category since used for
commercial purposes. However, the use of the vehicle
may be confined to the business premises of the insured.
6. Types of Motor policies available in India?
Ans: In India, the prevailing motor insurance provides two
types of policies viz.: liability only policy and package
policy.
a. Liability Only Policy: This policy covers the
