been registered either as a Hospital or Nursing Home
with the local authority and under the supervision of a
registered and qualified Medical Practioner, or
(i) Should have at least 15 beds (10 in C grade towns).
(ii) Should have fully equipped operation theatre.
(iii) Fully qualified nursing staff under its employment

round the clock.

The term Hospital and Nursing Home do not include an
establishment which is a place of rest, a place for the
aged, a place for drug-addicts or alcoholics, a hotel, or a
similar place.

(ii) 24 hours stay in hospital - Normally a minimum period
of 24 hours of admission is required for the claim to be
admissible. However, this time limit is not applicable for
specific treatments like Dialysis, Chemotherapy,
Radiotherapy, Eye Surgery, Dental Surgery, Lithotripsy
(Kidney stone removal), D&C, Tonsilectomy etc, which
usually do not require a stay of more than 24 hours. So
these treatments are considered to be taken under
Hospitalization Benefit.
