Faculty members transferred from Operational positions to Staff College
felt insulated from risky jobs at the branches like credit appraisal and
facing the wrath of Workers' Unions as wells as the Officers' Associations
while enforcing discipline for smooth operations at the branches.
The faculty members were a "knowledgeable and respected lot" among
employees. There was no conflict of interest of employees and the
faculty members because it was an interaction for a short duration
without any unhappy industrial relations issues like it frequently
happened at branches.
The faculty members used to say so many unpleasant things about
indiscipline and productivity to participants but they used to listen quietly
unlike at the branches where such utterances could have created serious
confrontation with Workers Unions as well as Officers Associations.
Of course, there were 40-50%, employees and managers who took very
keen interest in training and gave good feedback on their enhanced
learning.
Personally, whatever banking knowledge and skills I obtained, that was
majorly through strong training system of our bank and the rest I learnt
to practice them on the job. The training programmes provided me a
good level of confidence to work and take informed decisions in
managerial capacity.
Machine was given precedence over human need
In the nineties, we requested for providing ACs for one Faculty Common
Room, Principal Office and one Class Room due to high temperature in
the summers in that region. The request was declined on cost
considerations. Of course, we were provided room coolers in addition to
fans provided so far.
In those days, computers were needed to be kept under controlled
