whenever they are available." They heaved a sigh of relief and agreed to
this sensible arrangement.
On the appointed day and time, I reached the office of the Chairman of
the company and I was ushered in after some time. It was a very big room
of approx. 25x30 feet as per my estimate. He was sitting on a large table
in one corner of the room. There was a hanging ceiling light throwing
adequate bright yet soothing light on his table.
We exchanged greetings. I told him, "First of all I apologize for breaking
the past tradition and coming over to get documents signed as I am duty
bound." He said, "It does not matter at all. You are doing your duty only.
Rather, thanks for coming all the way". He signed all the documents duly
stamped and sealed and delivered to me.
I was very pleased to meet this giant stature from the IT world. I got
impressed when he did not show any arrogance or attitude on this event
and signed everything very smilingly, as indicated.
Insights from the episode
1. Do your duty even if old practices are challenged.
2. Do not presume that all big wigs are arrogant.
