DIVERSITY

My advice to create a safer classroom
is to introduce the term itself of ‘social
diversity’ to students at the beginning,
because in my experience most of the
people are not familiar with it,
especially in Hungary. Maybe they
would be eager to accept it, but they
just don’t know what it is, how to
behave in a mixed class, or they are
just too shy. Opening a topic like this
at the beginning of the semester (as
we did in Tartu) would open the
students’ eyes as well.
