Billie Holiday-Strange Fruit
The song went through a long
journey before Billie Holiday
made it famous through her
extraordinary performance.
The lyrics were inspired by a
photo in which two Black men
were lynched and was found by
Meeropol who was deeply
inspired and wrote a poem
about it. After his publication he
made into a song and Abel Meeropol
introduced it to a night club
owner.
