Science and the Bible
“O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust,
avoiding profane and vain babblings,
and oppositions of science falsely so called:”
1 Timothy 6:20
Age of the Earth
The earth is about six thousand years old. The Bible records the genealogies
of man from the first man - Adam. If you add the life span of these men,
taking into account the lives that overlapped, you come up with about 6,000
years. Damascus, Syria has been said to be the oldest city that has been con-
tinually inhabited. Its age is known and estimated to be no more than about
six thousand years old.
Because the world-wide flood took place about 4,400 year ago ac-
cording to Biblical calculations and evidence, we know that Damascus
would be less than 4,400 years old. The earliest records of handwriting date back to less than 6,000 years old. The
oldest known living tree-“Methuselah”- a Bristlecone Pine in White Mountains, California – has an age of around
4, 400 years.
Dinosaurs With Man
Dinosaurs lived with man according to the word of God. Flying and marine di-
nosaurs were created on day five. Land dinosaurs were created on day six, the
same day man was created. History has many stories of man fighting dragons.
Many of these stories are from true stories of men who fought dinosaurs. Some
were fire breathers. “Dragon” is the old name for the new name “dinosaur”. Ob-
viously, some of these historic tales became twisted as time went on.
Did you know Indians drew pictures of dinosaurs on rocks? In Mexico, ancient dinosaur figurines have
been found. Fossilized footprints of man and dinosaurs have been found beside one another in the Paluxy River in
Texas. In Peru, drawings of dinosaurs on polished rocks have been found. These stones are known to us as Ica
Stones.
Some dinosaurs may still be alive today in the more unexplored places in this world. In such places as
swamps in Africa, natives claim sightings of dinosaurs. Must we not forget marine dinosaur sightings, such as
those in Lake Erie, etc.? Dinosaurs are just large lizards that are assumed to be extinct. Alligators are lizards and
they can grow up to 20 foot long!
