and Macleay Island. The absence of
buildings and infrastructure in the views
to the Emerald Fringe means it has a
high aesthetic value. The Emerald Fringe
comprises diverse coastal eco systems
that include mixed woodlands with
beautiful scribbly gums and Bribie Island
pines, Curlew Creek with its six
mangrove species and the distinctive
red rocks that give the island its name,
Also, seen from within the place and
forming part of the aesthetic experience
of the place are the shore eco systems
including sandy beaches, the tidal reveal
of crabs and feeding shore birds, rocky
platforms and sea grass beds; the
wetlands; the modest roads and
pathways without kerbs or managed
lawn verges now uncommon in SE
Queensland; and the sandy beaches
with undeveloped public parklands
