                                  was to run through part of the Fringe;
                                  community participation in regeneration
                                  after cyclone Oswald; submissions from

                                  t islanders and island groups in support
                                  of zoning  the Emerald Fringe in its
                                  entirety as a conservation zone; the
                                  Coastcare, Bushcare and Native Plant
                                  Nursery groups demonstrate the
                                  regularly meetings to weed, plant and

                                  protect it; and written support from island
                                  groups for the entry of the ‘Emerald
                                  Fringe’  in the Queensland Heritage
                                  Register.   The place is further valued as
                                  the location of the island’s major events:
                                  Flinders’s Day, Anzac and remembrance
                                  Say, Christmas Eve, markets and the

                                  annual curlew count
                                 The Emerald Fringe has a strong and
                                  special association within the
