When the situation in the city seems completely

SCENE hopeless, a modest shoemaker named Dratewka

appears, who comes up with a great idea.

NO. 6 The shoemaker devises a clever plan - he kills a sheep,

then stuffs its skin with sulfur and sews it up. Then he

creeps under the dragon's lair. As quietly as possible,

he leaves the sheep in front of the cave, then hides

and watches the dragon from hiding. Moments later,

the hungry monster, lured by the smell of fresh meat,

emerges from its cave and immediately devours the

tasty-looking sheep. The brimstone stuffed into the

animal, however, begins to burn it horribly, causing it

to become extremely thirsty. The dragon quickly

rushes towards the Vistula river and starts greedily

drinking a huge amount of water. It finally breaks. This

is how Szewczyk Dratewka defeats the dangerous

monster. The city is saved.
