paramount. As a leader, L&T Construction is playing a key role in creating skilled labor through its
Construction Skills Training Institutes (CSTIs) that are spread eight locations across the country -
Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Cuttack, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi for enabling the
rural unemployedyouth to befinancially independent.
L&T began to promote Construction Vocational Training (CVT) in India
by establishing a Construction Skills Training Institute (CSTI) in late
1995at Chennai.
Objectives:
To train the construction workforce to meet the challenges and
demand for world class construction skills in terms of safety,
qualityofworkmanship and time.
To identify the skill needs of the construction workforce and set
standards to monitor their occupational competencies and
technical skills deployedinthe industry.
To disseminate knowledge and appropriate skill practices through
recognized systems of training, testing and certification to
validate competency levels.
To serve the social objective of the organization by channelizing
the potential and strength of rural youth in India, for producing a skilled
construction workforcecapable ofdelivering world class standards.
L&T-Construction Skills Training Institute (CSTI) at Serampore has a conducive campus for practical
and class room training. It has been developing skilled workforce through structured training free of cost for
morethanadecade.
As a part of L&T's CSR initiatives, CSTI provides free Skill development training to the under-privileged
youth of West Bengal and neighbouring states. Free boarding and lodging is provided to the trainees. After
successful completion, CSTI also strives to arrange for their placement at various construction sites .
CSTI is a registered Vocational Training Provider by DGT, Govt. of India and the courses are approved by
Construction Skills Development Council ofIndia (CSDCI).
