                                             Police Week 2021
National Police Week offers honor, remembrance, and peer support while allowing law enforcement, survivors and
citizens to gather and pay homage to those who gave their lives in the line of duty.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day
and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from
around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that
have paid the ultimate sacrifice (www.policeweek.org).
Due to the pandemic, the event was held this year from October 13 to October 17. Officer Anthony Dia's name was
carved on the memorial wall and his sacrifice was honored in the 2021 National Peace Officers' Memorial Service.
Officer Brandon Stalker will be honored in the 2022 National Peace Officer's Memorial Service.
                                             Officer Hale and Officer Szymanski
Over the course of four days, Sylvania Township Officer Bouyer (not pictured) and Toledo Police Officers Hale
and Szymanski rode in the Police Unity Tour. The tour honors officers killed in the line of duty and spans four states,
Washington DC, and is nearly 300 miles long. The three officers rode for Detective Keith Dressel (2007), Officer
Anthony Dia (2020) and Officer Brandon Stalker (2021).
