CANSELMAN

Canselman made it back-to-back victories when registering the initial stakes score of his career when he proved best in the $15,000 Marathon Stakes
at Louisiana Downs on Jan. 11.
A 3-length winner of an 870-yard test in his
previous start, Canselman broke alertly under jockey Cristian Esqueda and went right to the front in the Marathon. He received early pressure from odds-on race favorite Desire Astoli, but Canselman was able to shrug off the challenge when the real running began in the lane. Canselman inched clear in the stretch and drew out to a 1 1/2-length victory, stopping the timer in :45.742 for the 870 yards. His final time earned a 98 speed index for trainer Alfredo Gomez.
The $9,000 first-place check increased the 4-year-old gelding’s earnings to $34,015 and increased his record to 9-5(1)-1(0)-1(0) for owner Q and S Racing. Canselman won an optional claiming event at Evangeline Downs in December and fin- ished a close second two starts back in November.
Steve D. Burns DVM bred Canselman out of Autumn Handicap Stakes and Chickasis Handicap winner Fall For It. The mare has produced 100% money earners from 12 starters, including top earner Ballast Point, who won the Snowbound Superstar Stakes. Canselman is her second stakes winner.
Runner-up Desire Astoli (Desirio-Stoli Victory), with Donald Watson aboard for owner Gary Aber and trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr., couldn’t match strides with the winner and was denied a fourth straight win.
Freakin Patriot Dash (Game Patriot-Freakin Dash), ridden by Pedro Espinosa, finished an even third, a 1/2-length behind Desire Astoli. The 5-year- old gelding is owned by Jesus Huitron Lira and trainer by Pedro Lopez.
Im Mighty Fast (Mighty Corona-Sheza Fast Doll) and MS Dashing Queen (Shazoom Dashing-Double Dash Queen) rounded out the compact field of five.

Undefeated in 2020, Fantasticazoom Jr posted his second straight win in stakes company, taking the second division of the $15,000 Swift Stakes at
Louisiana Downs on Jan. 25.
Fantasticazoom Jr now has a four-race win
streak, dating back to an allowance victory on Oct. 19 at Evangeline Downs.
Owned by J and J Racing LLC, Fantasticazoom Jr now holds six victories in 11 starts. The $9,000 prize from this race pushed his bankroll to $39,170.
After winning the Harrah’s Dash in his previous start, Fantasticazoom Jr was ready for the Swift Stakes. The colt came flying midway through the race to win this one by daylight. Breaking well
from the 2-post, rider Ricardo Hernandez Jr. had the gelding running a close second at the first call but overtook his foe to lead by 1-length entering the stretch. That separation held up at the wire, as Fantasticazoom Jr finished his 350-yard trip in :17.786 for an 89 speed index.
Jose Carrizales trains Fantasticazoom Jr. He swept both divisions of the Swift Stakes, also train- ing Division 1 winner SS Classyjess.
Summer Run Inc. bred Fantasticazoom Jr out of lightly raced Zoomshakalaka. She has pro- duced 100% money earners from five starters. Fantasticazoom is her first stakes winner.
Ja B Valiant (Mighty B Valiant-Ja Impetuously) finished second for owner Lorena Gutierrez and trainer Robi Meche. Bryan Candanosa did the riding. LL Tee Boug (Tee Cos-Darlin Eyes) hit the board in third for Andres Lugo Aguilar. Luis Martinez is the trainer and Ubaldo Luna was aboard. Followed by Captain Valentine (Captain Courage-Cache Babe), Pilot Points Moon (First Moonflash-Ms Pilot Point), Mia Jet In (Jet Black Patriot-PYC First Prize Mia) and Watch My Booty (Country Chicks Man-Tiny Shiney Booty). Bileve scratched.

Eyesa Pilot scored her first stakes victory in the $25,000 Party Girl Stakes at Louisiana Downs on Jan. 25.
The filly broke from the 2-post on the lead and ran straight and true under the guidance of jockey Gilbert Ortiz. At the halfway point, they were a 1/2-length to the good. With the field closing fast, the finish line showed up just in time and they finished a nose in front.
Trained by Mardonio Flores Jr., the team completed the 330 yards in :17.008, posting a 90 speed index.
Eyesa Pilot brought home the $15,000 winner’s share of the purse for owner Victor Gonzalez, boost- ing her total lifetime earnings to $54,822. She now has a race record of 22-5(1)-2-2.
Flying K Ranch LLC bred Eyesa Pilot out of unraced Kelforpete. The mare has produced two winners from three starters, including Strut For Petes Sake, who ran second in the Billy Montgomery Stakes. Eyesa Pilot is the first stakes winner and top earner in the brood.
Corona Down Perry (Coronas Leaving You-Second Down Perry) & David Alvarez were 2nd for owner Carlos Acuna & trainer Martin Trejo. The filly was coming off a 4th in the Louisiana Champions Day Derby-G3. FPJ Blazen Fast Ryon (Fast Prize Jordan- Ryons Blazer) was 3rd under Ricardo Hernandez Jr. for owners Belinda Chapa & Daisy Sanchez and trainer Noe Sanchez. The filly was a finalist in the LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity-RG1. Followed by Sea Yacht Dash (Sir Runaway Dash-Yacht Sea), Wicked Blue
(Jess Louisiana Blue-Royal Wicked Witch), High And Caliente (Whathaveigottado-High On Sissy High), This Girls A Runaway (Sir Runaway Dash-This Girl
Is Special), Cajun Cos (Tee Cos-JLS Crawfish Pie) & Chloes Got Game (Game Patriot-Wandaslouisianagirl). Bibbity Bobbity Blue was scratched.
