                                Blue River Derby
FANTASTIC SIX PACK

Fantastic Six Pack scored the first stakes win of his career in splendid fashion, taking the $114,600 Blue River Derby at Indiana Grand on July 30.
Cristian Esqueda was atop the sorrel gelding, who broke sharply from the 10-gate and contested the early lead from second in the early stages of the 400-yard fixture. With a steady bid through the lane, Fantastic Six Pack pushed past Beach Bum Eddie approaching the wire to defeat the paceset- ter by a neck at the finish. Fantastic Six Pack’s final time of :19.796 established a new stakes record time for the first running of the Blue River Derby at 400 yards and was good for a speed index of 96.
A homebred for Duke Racing LLC, Fantastic
Six Pack is now a winner in four of eight starts and boasts a bankroll of $126,655. In addition to this stakes tally, Fantastic Six Pack finished second in last year’s Miss Roxie Little Futurity at Indiana Grand.
Bred in Indiana, Fantastic Six Pack is produced from the New Track Record setting mare Six Packin Robin, who finished second in the 2006 QHRA of Indiana Derby. She has produced 100% money earners from seven starters, including top earner/multiple stakes winner Chilled Six Pack. Fantastic Six Pack is her second stakes winner.
Beach Bum Eddie (Escondido Beach-Carman Copy) led early and was caught in the final strides. Cesar Esqueda piloted the runner-up for owner/ trainer Anthony Cunningham. My Louisiana Rod (La Jollaroid-Miss Louisiana Blue) ran evenly for Berkley Packer and owner/trainer Randy Smith.
Maranatha Is Coming (Bono Jazz-Smooch And Run), Megatron Harry (Escondido Beach-Chicks Sweet Donna), Coco Beach (Escondido Beach-Flashin Dee Dee), WH Kenny G (Gold Medal Jess-Designer Dash), WRS Kool Bob (Kool Quick Kid-Va Bebe), Euro Blazin (Euroears TB-Blazin First Down) and She Is Mighty Classy (Mighty Corona-Clearly Hateful) followed.
Heartland Futurity
JESS A DOLLAR

Jess A Dollar just missed winning his trial heat for the $98,280 Heartland Futurity at Indiana Grand on July 9, but improved on that finish to prevail when it counted most in the main event on July 30.
Ridden by Jose Davila, Jess A Dollar was promi- nent throughout the 300-yard race. He forged to the front nearing the wire and proved best by a neck in a blanket finish.
Jess A Dollar stopped the timer in :15.668, earning a speed index of 92. The 2-year-old chestnut gelding improved his record to 3-1-1-0 with the score and lifted his bankroll to $55,444.
His connections include owner Porfirio Carrasco and trainer Victor Gonzalez.
Homebred in California by Carrasco, Jess A Dollar is the lone stakes winner out of the lightly raced mare Lass To Know. She is the dam of 100% money earners from six starters. Jess A Dollar is her first stakes winner and top money earner.
Vampire Rose (Dashin MVP-Girlsachieve Too), a winner in her trial heat and the fastest qualifier, finished a game second under Smitty Oxendine for owner Daniel Cooter and trainer John McCreary.
WRS Against The Wind (Red Storm Cat-WRS Quick Sister), the even-money favorite and winner in his trial heat, finished a close third. Berkley Packer piloted the bay gelding for owner-trainer Randy Smith.

Speed Sale Stakes
POWERFULL STONE

Powerfull Stone had been close in all three of her previous starts before the Speed Sale Stakes at Indiana Grand on Aug. 12. The experience served her
well, as she broke her maiden in stakes company in the $35,520 event for weanling and yearling gradu- ates of the Speed Sale.
Ridden by Cesar Esqueda, Powerfull Stone broke smartly and grabbed the lead soon after the start. She quickly opened a clear, 1-length advantage on her eight rivals and maintained her lead through the lane. Sheza Classy Bay and jockey Berkley Packer raced prominently throughout and closed the gap to 3/4-length at the finish.
Powerfull Stone covered the 330 yards in :17.254, earning a speed index of 89 for owner/trainer Anthony F. Cunningham, who acquired the filly as a yearling out of the 2015 Speed Sale. With the score, Powerfull Stone improved her record to 4-1-0-2 and increased her bankroll to $30,906.

Sheza Classy Bay (Brookstone Bay-Sheza Classy Leader) chased gamely from the start and finished second for owner/trainer Randy Smith. Kids Bright Image (Kool Quick Kid-Bright Lineage) showed some late interest to finish third under Leonel Bolanos for owner Roger D. Beam and trainer Paul Martin.
WH Secretive (No Secrets Here-Strawflyin Fitness), Fly N Sixes (Desirio-Triple Six Center), Sixes Turn (Sixes Liaison-My Turn to Zoom), Ive Got Your Six (Royal Evening Snow-Mansini Moon), WH Sheza Fast Beach (Escondido Beach-Designer Dash) and Rainbow Moose (Palm Beach-Elegant Winner) completed the order of finish. Corona Cartelena was scratched.
