                                   Sign of Lanty dies
3-Time Distance Champion/2-Time California Hi-Point Distance Horse/California Hi-Point Aged Gelding/AQHA Supreme Race Horse/New Track Record Setter Sign Of Lanty si 108 (The Signature-Think Lanty, Timeto Thinkrich) passed away in August. The 1994 bay gelding earned $545,391 winning or placing in 48 of 65 starts, including winning 17 stakes events. Sign Of Lanty raced until 8-year-of age in 2002, earning his Champion titles in 2000, 2001, and 2002. The gelding was owned by Jackie and Rod MacPherson, Jr. in California and was retired to Firth Ranch, where he passed.

Coronas Prospect (Corona Cartel-Fantastic Polly, Fantastic Native) passed away on Aug. 14. The 2000 bay stallion set a 350-yard New Track Record at Delta Downs and earned $164,559 winning 8 races, including the Cajun Kindergarten Futurity-G3 and the East Derby Challenge-G3. Coronas Prospect is the sire of over $3.4 million in earners with 91 winners and 13 black type runners, including his top earner 2-Time Champion and stakes sire Prospect To The Top si 106 ($992,670).

  The answer on page 211 shows Easy Jet and his winning connections, that include Joe, Walter and Tine Merrick and jockey Willie Lovell, after his victory in the All American Futurity at Ruidoso Downs in 1969. Easy Jet was bred, owned and trained by Walter Merrick. That same year, Easy Jet (Jet Deck-Lena’s Bar TB, Three Bars) earned the titles of World Champion, Champion Stallion and Champion Two-Year-Old Colt. He also set a New Track Record at Ruidoso Downs for 350 yards that year and was the AQHA High Money Earning Horse. The next year in 1970, he would earn the titles of Champion Stallion and Champion Three-Year-Old Colt. Easy Jet was inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 1993 where he was named a World Champion and Hall of Fame Horse. Easy Jet was foaled in 1967 and only raced as a two and three year old. Winning 27 races including 12 stakes races, he earned $445,723 in his lifetime. As a sire, his progeny have earnings of over $26 million, including nine champions and World Champion Easy Date. This year’s All American Futurity-G1 will run on September 5 with a purse of an estimated $3,000,000.
