One Famous Beau & Cody Jensen receive every call for a 2-length victory
Day 2, Race #8
Purchased for $45,000 as a yearling, One Famous Beau will have his 1st shot at some really big money when he goes postward in the All American Futurity. Trained by Mike Joiner, One Famous Beau started his career in
a maiden race at Ruidoso Downs on June 12, where he was outnodded for the win and ran 2nd. Joiner gave a leg-
up to jockey Cody Jensen again on July 9 in a trial to the Rainbow Futurity. Overcoming a rough start, One Famous Beau won that day, though his time wasn’t fast enough for a finals berth. In his 3rd career start, One Famous Beau turned in his best race at the most important time. Breaking along the rail under Jensen’s guidance, One Famous Beau grabbed the lead and was never headed, racing to a 2-length, wire-to-wire win in the 8th trial. Patrick Guthrie, Billy Smith, Paul Blanchard & Fred Grooms own One Famous Beau, who is 1 of 4 One Famous Eagle offspring to qualify for the All American Futurity. One Famous Beau’s dam is Jumpn Beau Chick si 107 ($72,343), who won the TQHA Sires’ Cup Derby-RG3 and was 2nd in the TQHA Sires’ Cup Futurity-RG2. One Famous Beau is from the young mare’s first crop of four 2 year olds this year. Three of the 4 are starters, and in addition to One Famous Beau, Oak Trees Chik, by Oak Tree Special, is also a winner.
Apolltical Chad was second in One Hot Habit’s trial to earn his All American Futurity start- ing position. Loading into post 8 under jockey Adrian Ramos, Apolltical Chad broke behind the leaders but closed well to finish a neck off the winner. Apolltical Chad was heavily favored in his trial by virtue of his head win in the Ruidoso Futurity-G1 on June 12, and a
2 1/4-length trial score prior to that. Trainer Wes Giles had indicated he wouldn’t chase the Triple Crown with Apolltical Chad, and true to his word, he didn’t send the horse postward again until the All American Futurity trials. Owned by Nueve Racing, Apolltical Chad got his career started with trainer Brian Muse at Rem- ington Park, where he ran 2nd in a futurity trial. At Ruidoso Downs, he quickly became one of the top-ranked 2 year olds in the nation. Bred by William E. Smith & Weetona Stanley, Apolltical Chad is by Champion Apollitical Jess. His dam is stakes placed winner Fast Prize Tracy si 101 ($40,960), who has 6 winners from 10 starters to date. A $38,000 sale yearling, Apolltical Chad is a 1/2-brother to stakes-placed Spit Curl Trey si 95 ($60,686). Apolltical Chad is from one of the most prolific maternal families in Quarter Horse racing, as his 3rd dam is Champion Broodmare First Prize Dash, the only full sister to First Down Dash.
