Glittering Blue notched his first stakes victory in his 58th career start, as the gelding won the Zoetis
Evergreen Park Distance Challenge at Grande Prairie on Aug. 26.
Glittering Blue broke fourth from the inside 1-post under Blandford Stewart and quickly grabbed the lead. The pair crossed the wire 1 1/4-length in front and covered the 870 yards in :45.750 while record- ing a 98 speed index.
The gelding brought home the $11,744 winner’s share of the purse, boosting his total lifetime earn- ings to $92,287. He now has a race record of 58-19(1)-13(2)-9(3). Cody Eagle Bear owns Glittering Blue
and Alvin Cross Child trains him. Glittering Blue had finished
second and had two thirds in his previous 870-yard attempts, though he frequently competes at 770 yards.
The win earned a starting berth in the $105,000 AQHA Distance Challenge Championship-G1 at Los Alamitos on Nov. 17.
Rigetti Farms Ltd. bred Glittering Blue out of 3-time win- ner Glitter Galore, half-sister to stakes placed Heza Rare Toast, Toasting The Chick and Chivato Toast. She has produced 100% money earners from five starters, including Manitoba Speed Horse Derby winner Runningtofast.
Glittering Blue is her second stakes winner and top earner.

KR Streakin Version (Latest Version-Streakin Miss Tina) was third under J. Botello for owners Marvin E. Christensen & Richard Aldoff and trainer John Poirier.
