SLM Big Daddy Stakes-G3
ROCK ABOUT IT
by John Moorehouse
Winning the SLM Big Daddy Stakes proved to be twice as nice for Rock About It. The five- year-old gelding successfully went back-to-back in this stakes, winning the $56,830 event at Remington Park on March 16.
The SLM Big Daddy is a 550-yard contest, a distance that agrees with Rock About It. The gelding is now 4-0 in 550-yard outs, a record that includes the two wins in this stakes and an allowance at the distance on May 20 of last year at in which Rock About It set the Remington Park track record at :26.258. Rock About It also holds the 550 track record at Ruidoso Downs.
In his latest effort at 550 in this race, Rock About It left little doubt. The gelding was running a close second at the first call, grabbed the lead by 1/2-length as he reached the stretch, then doubled that advantage by the time he hit the wire. Tammy Johnson trains Rock About It, who had Randy Wilson aboard for a trip that took :26.982 and registered a 97 speed index.
Owned by Rockin J Running Horses, Rock About It was making his first out of 2019. He now holds three victories in stakes company. The $32,634 prize improved his total earnings to $206,485.

FMM Rocking Cartel zoomed from a maiden to a stakes winner in just his second start. As the longest shot on the board at 23-1 in the $50,000
