Laddie Futurity-RG2
SIR LOUISIANA DASH
  by Michael Compton
Sir Louisiana Dash remaines undefeated in his two lifetime starts with a powerhouse effort in winning the $357,981 Laddie Futurity at Delta Downs on July 4.
Sent off as the race favorite on the strength of his runaway 2 1/4-length victory in his June 13 trial heat as the fastest qualifier, Sir Louisiana Dash left little doubt who was best of the group in the feature event.
With Luis Vivanco back in the irons after piloting the sorrel gelding in his trial, Sir Louisiana Dash jumped out smartly, taking the lead at the break of the 330-yard dash.
The only dueling to take place in the race took place behind Sir Louisiana Dash, as he scampered clear of his rivals in the lane and crossed the finish line a 1/2-length clear of runner-up Ought to Go Tee and jockey Rolando Cabrera.
The top two finishers were the fastest and second fastest qualifiers, respectively. Previously unbeaten El Camino CL, winner of the Mardi Gras Futurity-RG2 earlier this season, finished in third place under jockey Eddie Sanchez.
Trained by Jesus Marquez, Sir Louisiana Dash stopped the timer in a lively :16.281 over the fast track, earning a whopping 106 speed index. The $178,990 winner’s share of the
lucrative purse increased Sir Louisiana Dash’s bankroll to $184,990 for owner Rogelio Marquez. It was the second straight dominating victory for the youngster, who blitzed his rivals by a widening 2 1/4-lengths in his maiden- breaking debut in the trial to this race, earning a 99 speed index at first asking.
Tate Farms bred Sir
Louisiana Dash out of unraced Ms Proverbial, half-sister to Central Juvenile Challenge-G3 winner Dash Thru My Heart and Florentine Handicap runner-up Shoal. Ms Proverbial has produced two winners from four starters. Sir Louisiana Dash is her first stakes winner.
Sir Louisiana Dash’s second dam is winner Sis Special Heart, who was a runner-up in the Sun Country Futurity-G1 and a finalist in the Remington Park Futurity-G1.
Ought To Go Tee (Tee Cos-VF Ought To Go Max), while no match for the winner, fin- ished a clear second for owner Jose Oviedo and trainer Fernando Lopez. The sorrel gelding, like the winner, was impressive in his career debut, taking his trial dash by 2 1/4-lengths,
earning a 96 in his bow. Ronald Gale bred Ought To Go Tee in Louisiana. The $60,856 second-place share of the purse increased his earn- ings to $68,856.
Graded stakes winner
El Camino CL (Heza Fast Dash-Eying Miss Perry) flashed speed away from the gate, chasing Sir Louisiana Dash through the early stages.
Unable to match strides with the top two late, the sorrel colt held third for owner/breeder Delfino Lozano IV and trainer Jose Sanchez III. El Camino CL entered the Louisiana Laddie Futurity unbeaten in his first three career starts. The $35,798 share of the purse for finishing third increased his earnings to $187,223.
Completing the order of finish were Apollitical Bye (Apollitical Blood-Swiftone)
in fourth, followed by San Lorenzo (Coronas Leaving You-In the Open), He B Swift (Freighttrain B-Eye Be Swift), Black Blood (Apollitical Blood-Black Rosalita), Jess Cuervo Time (Jess Cuervo-BBS Magic Lajolla) and FM Famous Rock (Heza Fast Dash-This Chicks Famous). Lafitte was scratched.
