by Tracy Gantz
Since Ricardo Armendariz took over Valiant Tiberias’ training this year, the gelding is a perfect four-for-four. His most recent victory came in the $53,108 Adequan Ruidoso Downs Derby Challenge on June 29.
The fastest qualifier for the race from the June 14 trials, Valiant Tiberias broke on top in the finals and won by 3/4-lengths as the 9-10 favorite. James Flores piloted Valiant Tiberius, who stopped the timer in :19.594 for 400 yards, posting a 97 speed index.

Sent off as the race favorite, Mamacita Cartel stopped the timer in :19.679 and earned a 95 speed index for trainer Cynthia Gonzalez.

TF KATES TLC
by Tracy Gantz
Sometimes a change of scenery can make a
huge difference. TF Kates TLC switched from Remington Park in Oklahoma to Arapahoe Park
in Colorado and came away with two victories, including the final of the $64,215 Rocky Mountain Futurity on June 15.
The filly qualified the fastest by winning her June 15 trial. Ridden by Carlos Guillen Chacon and sent away the even-money favorite, she broke like a shot, scooted away to a good lead, and held off chal- lengers to win by a neck in :17.160 for 330 yards. Roberto Treto trains TF Kates TLC for owner Gilberto Gutierrez. At Remington, the filly qualified for the Oklahoma Futurity-G2, but did not place in the final.
Tate Farms bred TF Kates TLC in Louisiana from graded stakes winner XO Kate and consigned the filly to the 2018 Heritage Place Yearling Sale. Santos Lopez bought TF Kates TLC at the sale for $8,000. XO Kate has produced six winners in nine starters, including Grade 2 winner Game Changes and stakes-placed On The Wagon and Stolin Wagon. Alfredo Triana Jr. rode Paramounte (Favorite Cartel-Jess Genuine) to second for owner Rivera Quarter Horse Racing Inc. and trainer Uriel Delgado. Paramounte debuted in his futurity trial, finishing second.
La Reina Madre (Apollitical Jess-Madresita), owned by Butch and Stephanie Webb, trained by Jose Barron, and ridden by Cerapio Figueroa, ran third. The filly had two fourths in three previous starts.
