Fifth-fastest qualifier from the June 2 trials, Shes Sizzling scored her first stakes victory in the $41,792 Ontario Bred Derby at Ajax Downs on

“She was very focused today, and she was just perfect,” said Castillo.

Ridden by Stormy Smith in the 400-yard event, Veuve Clicquot broke on top and never relinquished the lead. She steadily improved to win by 1/2-length in :19.843.
Clinton Crawford trains Veuve Clicquot for owner Cavenaugh Quarter Horses LLC. Veuve Clicquot previously competed at Remington Park and Will Rogers Downs. She earned several checks at the Oklahoma tracks, but couldn’t quite reach the winner’s circle. Veuve Clicquot broke her maiden
in her first start at Canterbury in an allowance just before winning the Gopher State Derby.

SUCHA DASH OF CORONA
by John Moorehouse
Sucha Dash Of Corona broke his maiden and earned blacktype in one fell swoop when he captured the $25,138 Northern Plains Futurity at Chippewa Downs on June 23.
Trained by Terry Davis, Sucha Dash Of Corona made a solid break from the four-post, getting
the second call from the gates. The sorrel gelding quickly took the lead position and was running
in front by a head at the first call. He still led by a neck going into the stretch, and he then pulled away during the final yards to cross the wire 1/2-length in front.
Sucha Dash Of Corona made his debut in the June 8 Northern Plains Futurity trials, where he finished in third place. His 350-yard trip in the trials took :19.612 and ranked sixth on the qualify- ing ladder for the eight runners who made it to the finals. When it came time for the money race, he proved to be the fastest of the field.
John Bubel owns and bred the two-year-old gelding out of winner Dashin Silk Coat, who was
a finalist in the 2014 Northern Plains Futurity and North Dakota Horse Park Futurity, and in the 2015 NDQHRA Derby. Dashin Silk Coat is now a 100% stakes producer, as Sucha Dash Of Corona is her only foal.
