CENTERS VALIANT HERO

Fastest qualifier Centers Valiant Hero led at every call under Julian Serrano en route to a 3/4-length victory in the $80,127 Beehive Futurity at Laurel
Brown Racetrack on June 28.

Mayra Sanchez and Hernando Perez, Centers Valiant Hero came out of the five-gate on the lead.
The brown gelding had a head at the first call and increased his margin to 1/2-length at the top of the stretch. Pushing all the way, Centers Valiant Hero went 350-yards in :17.867.
He took top honors as he crossed the wire on top for a 92 speed index while racing against a reported 20-mph head wind.
Centers Valiant Hero was coming off of a wire-to-wire 1-length win in the last of five Beehive Futurity trials on June 14.
Centers Valiant Hero has now won four of six starts, and the $32,050 winner’s share of the Beehive Futurity purse from his first stakes score pushed his earnings to $56,840.
The gelding was bred in Oklahoma by Carlie R. Rooney, and he was a $17,000 purchase at last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale.
Centers Valiant Hero is the first starter foaled by two-time winner Centercurlincash. The mare was a finalist in the 2013 Cherry Creek Futurity at Arapahoe Park.
His second dam, Centers Takin Cash, won two stakes at Arapahoe Park from 1995-96, including the Mile High Futurity-G2 and Mile High Derby-G3. She was also second in the Tots Randle Memorial Futurity-G3, third in the Rocky Mountain
Derby and a finalist in the New Mexico Derby Challenge-G3.
Kiss Fast Zoom (Kiss My Hocks-Ms Fast Prize Zoom) finished in second place under jockey Jospeh Belloc Jr. for owner Five Livestock Company LLC and trainer Monty Arrossa.
Hiphopopotamus (One Handsome Man- Sumbuddys Knockin) and Cordarelton Benn fin- ished third for owner Corey James Jensen and trainer Alvaro Torres.

South Valley Futurity
FREIGHT BOSS

Asharp break from the nine-post helped Jeffrey D. Smith’s Freight Boss score a wire-to-wire victory in the $20,510 South Valley Futurity at Laurel Brown Racetrack on June 28.
Ridden by Cordarelton Benn and racing against a reported 10-mph head wind, Freight Boss had a neck lead at the first call. The gray gelding increased his margin to 1/2-length at the top of the stretch, then drew off to defeat fastest qualifier Fooses Tat by 3/4-lengths at the wire.
Freight Boss and his rider completed the 330 yards in :17.212. The clocking was good for a 91 speed index.
Freight Boss brought home the $8,204 winner’s share of the purse for owner Jeffrey D. Smith and trainer Glade Van Tassell.
The third-fastest qualifier made his debut with a third-place finish in his South Valley Futurity trial on June 14. The gelding has banked $8,404 from two outs.
Freight Boss was bred by Vista Equine Colorado LLC out of winner RW Red Wave, who finished third in the 2011 Ruidoso Juvenile Invitational.
The mare has produced 100% winners from three starters, including top money earner Stellur, who was victorious in the 2017 Kim Didericksen Handicap. The gelding also ran second in the 2016 Roche Equine Futurity. Freight Boss becomes her second stakes winner with his victory in the South Valley Futurity.
Freight Boss’ second dam, Babyigotchamoney, produced two stakes-placed runners, both of whom are half-sisters to RW Red Wave.
South Valley Futurity fastest qualifier Fooses Tat (Foose-Wild Tat Too) and Daniel Carrillo finished second for owner Roberto Ortiz and trainer Lazaro Mendoza. The filly previously won her trial to the Hadley/Giles Futurity at Weber Downs and finished second in the finals.
Gary Laramie’s Hotfoot Hero (Valiant Hero-Endless Delight) finished third under Uriel Dominguez for trainer Glade Van Tassell.
Relentless Fire (Hes Relentless-La Dominica), Judis Star (Capo de Capi-BH Wyoming Star), HP Lazy Ivory (Ivory Ink-Lazy Chick), BDR Jock (RGR Jungle Jock-Hawkin The Money), Endless Enchantment (Carters Cartel-Endless Delight), disqualified from fifth to ninth was My Sweet Mia (A Mere Chocolate-Clydette Mia) and Kool Fave (Favorite Cartel-Kool Kue Chick) completed the order of finish.
UQHRA Open Derby
JR IONE A DYNASTY

JR Ione A Dynasty broke her maiden in the $20,295 Utah Quarter Horse Racing Association Open Derby at Laurel Brown Racetrack on June 28. Trained by Riley Moosman for owner J R Stables, JR Ione A Dynasty was third from the out- side post position. The brown filly was a nose behind then leader Pappajeto at the first call, and then dropped to third place as she, Pappejeto and Stolin Train flew to the wire.
It was a blanket finish, but JR Ione A Dynasty surged over the wire to take the victory by a nose. Under regular rider Jesus Valenzuela, the
filly completed the 350 yards in :18.070 against a reported 20-mph head wind. The clocking was good for an 86 speed index.
Raced exclusively in the Intermountain region, JR Ione A Dynasty earned the $8,118 winner’s share, taking her total bank to $9,875. Her race record now stands at 7-1(1)-3-1.
JR Ione A Dynasty qualified to the UQHRA Open Derby during the June 14 trials. The filly finished third in her heat while running against the rail. Her :17.618 time put her fourth on the qualify- ing ladder.
JR Stables bred Jr Ione A Dynasty out of 2008 Dashing Folly Handicap winner Prissy B Panther, who was also second in the Sunland Park Winter Futurity-G2. The mare has produced 100% winners from six starters, including 2013 AQHA Derby Challenge Championship-G2 winner Jr Dynasty Mountain and Jr Prissys Blood, winner
of the Cowboy State Futurity at Energy Downs on June 29.
Stolin Train (Desirio-Stoli Girl) finished second under Oscar Andrade Jr. for owner Albert Sacco and trainer Scott Goodrich. The gelding won last year’s Wyoming Downs Futurity.
Fastest qualifier Pappajeto (Pappasito-Streaking Secrets) and jockey Daniel Carrillo finished third for owners Linda and David Burt, who also conditions the gelding.

The First), Kis My Bit (One Famous Eagle-Bits Of Bliss), RF Shades Gonna Dash (Stel Corona-Shirley Gonna Dash), Femme Fatalia (Favorite Cartel-Kool Kue Chick), Mr Downtown Zip (Jess Zoomin-Miss Corona Downtown) and Thankxforthememories (Eye On Corona-Memory Crest) completed the offi- cial order of finish. RF Shades Gonna Dash crossed the wire fourth but was disqualified and placed sixth for lugging out and bothering Kis My Bit.
