San Lorenzo Jet, ridden by jockey J.R. Ramirez, was the second wagering choice in the race and the sixth-fastest qualifier. Having lit the board in every start, his race record now stands at five wins and one second place finish from six career starts for owner Rogelio Marquez Jr. This was his third stakes victory. In 2022 he won the Laddie Futurity-RG2 on May 28 and the Lee Berwick Futurity-RG1 on July 16. The $332,500 winner’s share of the purse boosted his lifetime bankroll
to $887,910.
“That was a horse race,” said Marquez in an interview with StallioneSearch.com. “In these finals, you have to be perfect, and today two horses ran a perfect race. We
are grateful to J.R (Ramirez). He’s a heck of a rider with experience in so many big championships. He got everything out of San Lorenzo Jet. A dead-heat is certainly better than running second.”
“This horse has been great all year, and I felt bad that I spoiled his streak by running second in the trial. It was so close—I really thought Arturo had it and I congratulated him when we were pulling up. It was quite a nice experience.” Ramirez said of San Lorenzo Jet in an interview
with StallioneSearch.com.
Bred in Louisiana by Tim and Jennie Rogers of Rogers Farm, San Lorenzo Jet is out of the winning and stakes placed mare Miss Delta Duck. She placed second in the 2011 Gold Rush Stakes and in 2010 set a New Track Record at Will Rogers Downs for 250 yards. She has produced five winners from six starters including one graded stakes winner. Her foals have earnings of $1,017,251.
Rounding out the top three placings was third-place finisher Masseto (One Sweet Jess-Full Moon Dasher) with jockey Rene Hernandez in the saddle. Owned by Jose Rocha and trained by Mario Trujillo, Masseto made his stakes debut in this race. He was bred in Louisiana by Spring Hill Farms and is out of the stakes winning and stakes placed mare Full Moon Dasher, who won the 2011 Four Corners Senora Stakes.
Turn The Eagle Lose (One Dashing Eagle-A Real Tornado), One Dashing Dove (One Dashing Eagle-First Little Magic), Cole Train 2 (Freighttrain B-Histori), Jess Sea Louisiana (The Louisiana Cartel-Jess Sea), Five Bar Panther (Five Bar Cartel-Swingin Panther), Elegant Blues Girl (Jess Louisiana Blue-U R Blue), and
Good Lookin Patriot (You Drive I Fly- Abbagail Kate) completed the order
of finish.
