Belles Stakes
DAZZLIN EFFORT

Aone-time $7,500 claimer who’s gotten better with age, Dazzlin Effort earned the first stakes victory of her six-year career in the $16,000 Belles Stakes for distaffers at Fair Meadows at Tulsa on July 2.
Dazzlin Effort covered her 350-yard trip in :17.639 against an 8-mph head wind. James Flores rode the 8-year-old mare for owner Terry McLean of Claremore, Oklahoma, and trainer Gerry McLean.
Dazzlin Effort was coming off of a Remington Park spring campaign in which she ran second in an open-condition $31,000 allowance dash on March 11. The mare has upped her earnings to $138,644 with the Belles Stakes winner’s share, and her race record is 37-13(1)-8-1. She was also a finalist in this year’s Decketta Stakes-G3.
Dazzlin Effort was bred in Oklahoma by Jaime Gomez of Anaheim, California, one of the premier Quarter Horse trainers at Los Alamitos Racecourse.
One of three winners from four starters out of unraced Special Dazz, Dazzlin Effort is a 1/2-sister to stakes winner Kep Me Fire and stakes placed Dazzling Dutch. Dazzlin Effort traces back to her third dam, 1974 Rainbow Derby winner Azure Te. All told, Dazzlin Effort has won 14 of 38 outs and has banked $138,554.
Nanny McFeebe (Furyofthewind-Sexy N Saucy) ran second, a nose behind Dazzlin Effort. Paul Nieto rode the stakes-winning 4-year-old filly for owner Dustin Cox and trainer Jerry Ingels.
Gerry McLean also sent out third-place finisher Ivory Teaspoon (Ivory James-Kisses Teaspoon). Daniel Torres rode the sophomore filly for owners Trey Malachek and Terry Pruitt.
Vf Wheely Cute (Ivory James-Wheely Quick) ran fourth and was followed by Shelby C (Volcom- Makin Me Money) and Rock My Momma (Ivory James-Rock N Zoom).

POUTN ON THE WAGON

Asharp break from the 4-post helped fourth-fast- est qualifier Poutn On The Wagon stay unde- feated with a 1/2-length win in the $45,420 Alberta Bred Futurity-RG3 at Lethbridge on June 26.
Racing for Pete Schoeler of 108 Mile Ranch, British Columbia, Poutn On The Wagon made his 300-yard stakes winning trip in :15.300.
Ricardo Moreno rode the homebred gelding for trainer William Leech.
The $20,439 winner’s share of the purse from Poutn On The Wagon’s first stakes win pushed his bankroll to $22,098.
Poutn On The Wagon made his debut with a 1/2-length victory in the second of three Alberta Bred Futurity trials on June 11.
One of three winners from as many starters foaled by Poutnlori, who won two graded stakes from 2004-05 including the ’04 Canada Cup Futurity-RG3.
Poutn On The Wagon is a 1/2-brother to a pair of stakes winners: Poutnokey, a graded stakes win- ner who won five stakes for Schoeler from 2010-12 including the 2010 Canada Cup Futurity-RG3; and stakes winner Poutn With Speed.
Fastest qualifier Caraves Waves (Wave Carver- Special Corona) finished second. His connections include owners Shady Lane Stables and Dale Zukowski. Ramiro Castillo rode the homebred geld- ing for trainer Randy Cunningham.
Zerelda James (Jesse James Jr-Dash The Night Away) is a homebred owned and trained by Donalda M. Cochrane. Scott Sterr rode the filly.
Eye On Desirio (Desirio-Dash N Way), Honor The Fast Man (Honor The Perry-Buckle High), Streakinbabe (Streakinisanattitude-RJ Bitterroot Babe), Eagle Quay (One Famous Eagle-Rosas Special), and Taylor Meyer (Mac Meyers-Pritzi Too) completed the order of finish.
Alberta Bred Derby
SHEAINTAWHISKYLULABY

Sheaintawhiskylulaby, a sorrel filly owned and trained by William Leech of Sterling, Alberta, Canada, scored her first stakes victory in the $25,034 Alberta Bred Derby at Lethbridge on June 26.
Ridden by Freddy Fuentes and aided by
a tail wind reported at 30 miles per hour, Sheaintawhiskylulaby covered 350 yards in :17.994, and her winning margin was a head from Better Knickers. The $11,266 winner’s share of the purse increased her bankroll to $27,929.
Sheaintawhiskylulaby was the third-fastest qualifier from the June 12 trials, winning her heat by 3/4-length with a big finish.
Raced exclusively in the province of Alberta, Sheaintawhiskylulaby has now won three of nine outs, and her resume includes a third-place finish in last year’s Alberta Stallion Futurity at Northlands Park in Edmonton.
The filly was bred by Garnet Leech of Medicine Hat, Alberta, and is one of two winners from four starters produced by Cleats Rockette. The mare won the first division of the 2002 Horsemen’s Derby at Lethbridge. Sheaintawhiskylulaby is a 1/2-sister to Rockette Buck, the third-place finisher in the ’14 Alberta Stallion Futurity.
Better Knickers (First Timber-Better Secret) was ridden by Larris Allen for trainer Riley Rycroft. The gelding races for Lewis Mailer. Experimental Rocket (TR Dasher-Platinum N Pearls) ran third. Dwight Lewis rode the gelding for owners Shylo Penrod and Brian Weatherill and trainer Allen Goodsell.
Fly Bye Cruise (Special Fly Bye-Eye Cruise) finished fourth and was followed officially by Fiscal Fast (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Tres Seis Smooches), ER Cafe (Tres Seis-Hawks Halo), Northfork Jess (Jess Magic-Northfork Babe), and disqualified from sixth to eighth Go Jessin Beaver (Apollitical Jess- Corona Del Valle).
