TINY FLYING CORONA
by Tracy Gantz
Tiny Flying Corona has won or finished second in every race he’s attempted since mid-2014.
That consistency paid off when he came home on top in the Northlands Park Bonus Challenge in Edmondton, Alberta, Canada, on June 29.
Favored at 1.15-1 odds, Tiny Flying Corona came out of the 2-hole quickly under jockey Ricardo Moreno, who has ridden him in the majority of his starts. Mals First Down on the rail engaged him for the first part of the 330 yards, but then Tiny Flying Corona pulled away.
Tiny Flying Corona ultimately defeated Cruisinfourabruisin by a 1/2-length in :17.000.
William Leech trains Tiny Flying Corona for owner Charles Stojan.
The 6-year-old gelding first became a stakes winner in 2014, when he annexed the Grande Prairie Bonus Challenge. He has also finished second in the 2015 AQHRA Aged Series Enerpan Championship and in the 2016 Old Timers Classic Stakes. In
2013, he was a finalist in the El Primero Del Ano Derby-G2 at Los Alamitos.
With the addition of the $9,710 winner’s share from the Northlands Park Bonus Challenge, Tiny First Corona now has total earnings of $104,947.
His race record stands at 13 wins, 7 seconds, and 4 thirds from 33 career starts. He set his career high 112 speed index last year at Grande Prairie.
Parsons Family Limited Partnership bred Tiny Flying Corona in California from unraced PJ Phoebes Flying. She has produced 100% money earners/ROM earners from her four starters. Tiny Flying Corona is his dam’s first stakes winner and top earner. The fourth dam, Dashing Phoebe, a mul- tiple Grade 1 stakes winner and earner of $609,553, was the Champion 2-Year-Old Filly of 1985 and the Champion 3-Year-Old Filly of 1986.
Cruisinfourabruisin (First Timber-Tagulator), ridden by Jose Rocha, had another 1/2-length on his stablemate, Splashy Mamacita (Volcom-Splashy Pizazzy), piloted by Martin Ortiz. Barry and Janice Sather bred and own both of them, and Janice trains them. Cruisinfourabruisin captured the 2014 Canada Quarter Horse Cup Futurity-G3 and 2015 Canada Quarter Horse Cup Derby. Splashy Mamacita has won four of 20 starts.
Completing the field were Mals First Down (Shazoom-First A Princess), Canadian Timber (First Timber-Kahuna’s Chillydip TB), Streaken Timber (First Timber-Streakin Jordash), and First Sassy Timber (First Timber-Sass N Dass).

KR Streakin Version sailed around the turn on the rail and opened up a wide margin in the stretch to win by 1 3/4-lengths in :40.360.

The gelding was a finalist in the 2013 AQHA Challenge Championship-G1 and he captured
his first stakes, the 440-yard Evergreen Park Championship Challenge, in 2013. Northern Plains Futurity
YOUR WAGONS A WINNER
by Danny Camp
Your Wagons A Winner has never been defeated. She won her maiden out on May 16 by 1 3/4-lengths at Brown County Fair in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and then it was on to the Northern Plains Futurity at Chippewa Downs in Belcourt, North Dakota, on June 25.
The gray two-year-old filly broke from the 6-post and she led at every call. She had a head at the first call, kept that margin to the top of the stretch, where was able to keep her nose in front at the wire.
With jockey Jeremy Herman on board for the 350-yard test, Your Wagons A Winner stopped the clock at :18.680.
The filly also earned the first place check worth $8,973, which was the biggest slice of the $21,363 pie. Your Wagons A Winner has now earned a total of $10,002. Her race record is a clean two wins from two starts.
Your Wagons A Winner is owned by Steve Leonard and trained by Jeff Charbonneau.
The filly, who was bred in North Dakota by Darrel H. Smith, is out of unraced Winners Script. The mare has produced 100% money earners from her four starters that have tallied seven wins.
Your Wagons A Winner is her dam’s top money earner as well as her first stakes winner.
Dashing Fullthrottle (Such Easy Cash-Dashing Four Socks) dueled gamely and picked up the second place money for her team that includes owner Dennis Halvorson and trainer Jeff Charbonneau. Regular rider Shaun Herman was handling the
reins in the Northern Plains Futurity. Herman had beed aboard the filly in two previous outs, both at Chippewa Downs - a second place finish in a maiden out and a 2-length victory in allowance company.
A steady and even race was run by First Heartbreak (Ima Ramblin On-Two Thirty Eight). The effort earned the filly third place money for her connections that include owner Ramsey Delorme and trainer Perry Cavanaugh. Regular rider Zack Ziegler was in the saddle. Ziegler had ridden the filly in three previous outs, a second in a maiden, then a win in a maiden race, followed by another second in allowance company.
Dashing Boy (Its Royal Time-April Wins With Ease), Paint Your Shamrock (Paintyourownwagon- Nina’s Hope), Such An Easy Memory (Such Eash Cash-Memories Jet), Comes Ajumpn (Jumpn Chic- Comes Naturally) and Cos I Can (Such Easy Cash- Southern Silk Coat) completed the order of finish.
