Speedhorse Takes 1st, 3rd, Honorable Mention At American Horse Publication Awards
The American Horse Publication 2016 Annual Awards Competition Banquet was held June 18 in Orlando, Florida.

in Publication Cover Page Circulation Under 10,000 (Print) from 14 entries for Art Director/ Senior Designer Mark Holley’s cover design for our October 2015 issue of Jess Good Candy after winning the 2015 All American Futurity. The cover photo was taken by Speedhorse Photographer Linda Earley. Speedhorse also received an honorable mention for Editorial Design Circulation Under 10,000 (Print) from 20 entries for Production Manager Leann Noguera’s design of Racing Revivalist, an Industry Profile on Herb Graham written by Diane Rice, in our September 2015 issue.
American Horse Publications (AHP) is a non-profit association for the equine publishing media industry. Since its start in 1970, the AHP now boasts over 500 members, including equine-related publishing media, businesses, professionals, colleges, and students, with combined circulation of well over 1 million readers - all working together to promote better understanding and communication among all facets of the equine publishing industry. AHP members are the communicators for the horse industry. Held since 1974, the AHP annual awards contest recognizes outstanding articles, photographs and advertisements.

A Streak Of Fling (Streakin Six-Moon Fling, Fast Fling) will stand the 2017 season at High Point Performance Horses in Pilot Point, Texas. The 1999 red roan stallion earned $27,645 winning 3 races
as a finalist in the Blue Ribbon Futurity-G1 and Blue Ribbon Derby. Although he is the sire of only one race starter, a winner, he has made
his name as a top sire in the arena. In this capacity, A Streak Of Fling is a leading sire of barrel money earners with nearly $2.3 million in earners, including his top money winner Fame Fling N Bling ($625,275). A Streak Of Fling is also the #6 leading sire of barrel horses sold in 2015.

Jess Jones si 114 (Mr Jess Perry- Disco Del Rey, Disco Jerry TB)
will stand the 2017 season at C Hangin C Performance Horses in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. The 2004 brown stallion earned $164,159 winning four stakes races, including the Grade 3 SLM Big Daddy Stakes. He set a 660-yard stakes record at Remington Park and an 870-yard track record at Will Rogers Downs. He was named AQHA Oklahoma Hi-Point Aged Stallion twice, in 2008 and in 2010. Jess Jones is already the sire of multiple winners from very limited starters.
Moonist Dies
4-time AQHA Champion Moonist (Separatist-Your First Moon, First Down Dash) passed away on June 21 after complications from colic. Bred by Vessels Stallion Farm, the 5-year-old gelding won 24 of 34 career starts with earnings of $878,468. Moonist, who
was owned by Ronald J. Hartley and trained by John Cooper, is one of only eight Quarter Horses to reach 12 stakes victories at Los Alamitos and was the first horse to ever win four derbies in a single year at Los Alamitos
in 2014. His final stakes victory was on Feb.
15 when he outdueled World Champion Heza Dasha Fire to win the Los Alamitos Winter Championship-G1.

Remington Park Announces Meet Leaders
Remington Park’s 50-day Quarter Horse, Paint & Appaloosa season came to an end on June 4,
and the Oklahoma City track announced their meet leaders. JK Running Horses won their first lead- ing owner title after winning 13 races. Kristen Paredes was the leading owner by money earned with $1,083,420. Clint Crawford defended his title and was the leading trainer for the second consecutive year with earnings of $721,664 and 36 wins. Crawford was honored with the Jack Brooks Award, presented by Jack Brooks himself. The leading trainer by stable earnings was Rick Robinson, whose runners amassed $1,028,066 with 15 wins. Ivan Carnero was the leading jockey with 49 wins and earnings of $1,154,577. Agustin Silva was the leading jockey by money earned with $1,347,370. Remington’s equine Champions include: Horse of the Meet/Champion Older Male Zoomin Effortlessly; Champion 2 Year Old Duponte; Champion 3 Year Old A Tres Of Paint; Champion Older Mare Candy Cartels Cat; Champion Distance Runner Fire On The Fly; Champion Oklahoma-Bred AJs High; Champion Paint PHQ Goodbye Earl; Champion Appaloosa Star Power Intent; and Champion Claimer Apollitical Man.
