                                Laico Bird Handicap
DICECAPADES
by John Moorehouse
Dicecapades is off to a fantastic start in her racing career. The young filly improved to 2-0 and earned black type with a 3/4-length run to victory in
the $70,000 Laico Bird Handicap held at Remington Park on April 23.
Terry McLean owns Dicecapades, who broke her maiden in a 250-yard out on March 24 at Remington but showed much more speed in this start for Oklahoma-bred 2 year olds, covering the 330 yards in :16.761 for a 91 speed index.
Trained by Gerry McLean, Dicecapades was bumped at the start emerging from the 4-post, but jockey James Flores helped her recover and the filly was running a close second at the first call before seizing the lead. She ran in front by 1/2-length enter- ing the stretch and held off any would-be challeng- ers. This stakes win produced a $41,838 payday that improved the filly’s total bankroll to $52,618.
The result also made Dicecapades the first stakes winner out of her dam, Dicey Riley, a 2007 mare who has produced four starters thus far among seven offspring. J. Garvan Kelly and Nancy Yearsley bred both Dicecapades and Dicey Riley.
JS Challenger (Capo de Capi-Texas Lady Passion), a 30-1 longshot, surprised in second place for owner James Sills and trainer Eddie D. Willis. Oscar Delgado drew the riding assignment.
Bout Tree Fiddy (Ivory James-Hollie Jollie) hit the board in third. Patrick Swan and Carry C. Allred own the gelding, who is trained by Swan and had Jorge Torres aboard.
Followed by pre-race favorite Im Tellin Ya (One Famous Eagle-Teller N Telleragain), Perfect Burn (Carters Cartel-SR Gizella), Tempting Blonde (Tempting Dash-Second Down Blondie), Dash Down Dancer (Inseperable-Eye Opening Dancer) and Depoe Bay (Freighttrain B-Directors Cut). JC Wild Rose and KG Johnny B Good scratched.

JESS GOOD CANDY
by John Moorehouse
Life stayed pretty sweet for Jess Good Candy as he began his sophomore campaign. Jess Good Candy ran to victory in the $70,000 Mr Master Bug Stakes
at Remington Park on April 24 in his first out since winning the $3 million All American Futurity-G1 at Ruidoso, the capper in a season that saw him crowned the AQHA Champion 2 year old for 2015.
Jess Good Candy started in the middle of the pack but closed to second. The colt showed his championship form during the final yards, chasing down his foe to reach the wire first by a head.
Trained by Clinton Crawford, Jess Good Candy had Ivan Carnero aboard while covering the 350 yards in :17.672, posting an 84 speed index. PV Quarter Horse Farms, LLC, owns Jess Good Candy, who brought in a $41,838 payday that increased his lifetime earnings to $1,561,078.
PV Quarter Horse Farms, LLC, also owns Jess Send Candy, the dam of Jess Good Candy. A lightly-raced 2007 mare, she has foaled seven offspring-all starters and three of them stakes winners. This Candys Awesome and Send Me This Wagon, both of whom were sired by PYC Paint Your Wagon, are half-sisters to Jess Send Candy and both hold multiple stakes victories. Carl Pevehouse bred both Jess Good Candy and Jess Send Candy.
A Bee C (Apollitical Jess-Hollywood Caliente) finished second for Victory Farms. The Brian Muse trainee had James Flores in the irons. Jose Vega rode BV Midnite Express (Freighttrain B-Ms Tres Seis) to third by a nose. The gelding is owned by Bella Vista Farms and trained by Eddie D. Willis.
Shaken Pappasito (Pappasito-Shaken Easy Dash), The Charm Of Corona (Corona Cartel- Charm Dance), My Royal Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Lynettes Knockout), Dash To Seperate (Inseperable-Ms Traffic Maker) and Cashshae (Spit Curl Jess-Your Cash Treat) completed the field. Mr Jet Moore Stakes-RG3
AJS HIGH
by John Moorehouse
AJs High has two stakes wins in as many tries thus far in 2016, making a furious finish in his latest start to take the $70,000 Mr Jet Moore Stakes-RG3 at Remington Park on April 7.
AJs High has been a very consistent and produc- tive performer for owner/breeder Michael Teel. The four-year-old gelding now holds 10 victories in 15 lifetime starts, with seven of those wins in stakes com- pany. Trained by Charley Hunt, AJs High broke from the outside position in the eight-horse field under Stormy Smith but was running fifth as then-leader Win Rabbits Fly entered the stretch. As Win Rabbits Fly faded, the gelding chased down his competitors and got to the finish line first by 1/2-length.
AJs High finished the 350-yard event in :17.387, posting a 92 speed index and bringing home a $40,200 payday that pushed his lifetime earnings past the $400,000 milestone to $402,819.
Teel also owns the dam of AJs High, Regally Rare. The mare is an all-time leading dam of ROM with 11 ROM earners from 12 starters out of 18 offspring, including two stakes winners and two stakes placers. Struttin High, the other stakes winner in the brood, has 4 stakes victories and has set 2 New Track Records.
A blanket finish determined the top three. Sam Crow (Valiant Hero-Bourbonstreetchick) finished second under Ricky Ramirez for owner Terry Baber and trainer Trey Wood. Bringin The Gray (Mr Jess Perry-None As Easy) placed third under Agustin Silva for owner Jesus Estrada and trainer Fernando Carrete.
The remaining order of finish was Specials Jess (Spit Curl Jess-Special Anywhere), Win Rabbits Fly (Fly Jess Fly-Break The Market), BP Cartels Policy (Cartel Success-Marys Southernpolicy), Cruise By Diva (Corona Cartel-Spit Curl Diva) & Style On Speed Dial (Ivory James-Pat B Stylin).
