arhock ran into the record book and set a New
Track Record during his run to victory in the 250-yard $19,423 Jack Rhoden Memorial Bonus Challenge at Crooked River Roundup on July 16.
Benito Curiel trains Warhock, who broke well from the 4-post and was running in front by a head as he entered the stretch. With jockey Jose Guerrero aboard, Warhock continued to widen the gap, sporting a 3/4-length as he hit the wire.
Warhock finished the 250-yard sprint in :12.811, registering a scorching 121 speed index and a New Track Record. Fooses Flyer set the standing record, :12.823, on July 15, 2022. Warhock also set a New Track Record at Grants Pass for 300 yards.
Malon Cowgill owns Warhock, who won the Mail Tribune Handicap at Grants Pass on June 27. The five-year-old gelding now has 10 wins in 30 lifetime starts and the $9,517 first-place prize improved his total earnings to $80,096. Warhock also holds multiple third-place finishes in stakes races: the 2018 version of the Portland Meadows Fall Derby, and the 2017 runnings of the Emerald Downs Juvenile Challenge and the Grants Pass Firecracker Futurity.
The Hayden Brothers Ranch bred Warhock, who was foaled in Oregon out of winner Copa Show Girl, a stakes-placed 2000 mare who finished second in the 2003 Retama Park Derby-G1. She was also a finalist in the 2003 Heritage Place Derby-G1 and Lazy E Derby-RG2. The mare is a half-sister to BF Phillips Jr Handicap-RG3 winner Killer Bod and 3-time stakes winner Maggie Moonpie. Copa Show Girl produced eight winners from 11 starters, four of which are stakes winners. Warhock is her top earner.
Nick Lowe trains the other two horses who hit the board. CM Boom Shakalaka (Carters Cartel-Mi Fames A Dandy) took runner-up honors for Chris Sutton under jockey James Wooten Jr. The gelding has won six stakes races, including last year’s Bank of America Grants Pass Championship Challenge.
Louisana Bunny (Louisiana Senator-My Best Bunny) placed third under jockey Cruz Contreras for owner The Estate of Lee Markholt. The filly won the 2020 Emerald Downs Juvenile Challenge and Grants Pass Firecrcker Futurity.
The remaining order of finish was Lionized (Bodacious Dash-Flyin Lion), Fast Movin Freight (Freighttrain B-Real Queen Like It), No Juans Fool (Fastnfierce-Juan Full Corona), and Messanger (Favorite Cartel-Cupids Special Fly).

HEZAA FAST BOY

ezaa Fast Boy lived up to his name, taking the
$70,000 Louisiana Classic-RG2 at Delta Downs on July 16.
Hezaa Fast Boy led at every call of his 440-
yard trip. He broke on top from the 5-post, built
a 1/2-length lead by the first call, maintained that advantage going into the stretch, then held off a late bid by Tuckers Prize to cross the wire first by a neck.
Jesus Marquez trains Hezaa Fast Boy, who finished the race in :21.758 for a 94 speed index. The gelding’s owner, Rogelio Marquez Jr., banked a $42,000 payday that increased the horse’s total bankroll to $129,500. Hezaa Fast Boy now holds five wins in 14 starts.
It’s been a stellar campaign for the five-year-old gelding. He won the Vals Fortune/Teddy Abrams, Jr. Stakes-G2 in his prior out. Before that, he placed second at the Miss Polly Classic-G2 at Delta Downs.
Simmons Racing bred Hezaa Fast Boy out of Brenda Beautiful. The 2006 mare won the 2008 versions of the Hobbs America Futurity-G2 and Southwest Juvenile Championship-G1.
Tuckers Prize (Fast Prize Dash-BB Secrets Game) dueled with Hezaa Fast Boy nearly the entire way enroute to runner-up honors. Preston Jourdan owns and trains the gelding, who had Ubaldo Luna aboard. JRS Corona Toast (Coronas Leaving You-Egos Toast To Dash), a 23-1 longshot, took third place for Paul Rigdon, Gyth Rigdon, Gerardo Gonzalez, and Juan Luis Fernandez. Paul Rigdon also trains the gelding, who was ridden by Arturo Alvarez. Followed by JJ Heza Fast Dash Jr (Heza Fast Dash-Forever Real) in fourth, followed by Ponookies Fast Cash (AJS Fast Cash-Streakin For Da Cash), El Camino CL (Heza Fast Dash-Eying Miss Perry), Lett It Happen (Jet Black Patriot-Dont Lett Her Down), Maggies Runaway (Sir Runaway Dash-Ms Maggies First), Tee Britt (Tee Cos- Special Britt), and TDZ Royal Runaway (Sir Runaway Dash-Thequeenhasgonenuts).

ezaa Fast Boy is on a roll in 2022, already
winning three of his four starts with the latest being the $60,000 Vals Fortune/Teddy Abrams Jr. Stakes-RG2 at Delta Downs on July 1.
Ridden by David Alvarez for trainer Jesus Marquez, Hezaa Fast Boy broke towards the back of the pack. The team rallied and steadily gained ground to cross the wire 1/2-length in front.
In additon to this victory, the gelding has also won the Louisiana Classic Stakes-RG2 and was second in the Miss Polly Classic-G2. The $36,000 winner’s share of this purse boosted Hezaa Fast Boy’s lifetime earnings to $129,500 for owner Rogelio Marquez Jr.
Simmons Racing bred Hezaa Fast Boy out
of Champion Brenda Beautiful, who won the Southwest Juvenile Championship-G1 where she
set a New Track Record and the Hobbs America Futurity-G2. She was also a finalist in the 2009 All American Derby-G1 and Ruidoso Derby-G1. Brenda Beautiful has produced four winners from seven starters. Hezaa Fast Boy is her first stakes winner.
JL Heza Fast Dash Jr (Heza Fast Dash-Forever Real) and jockey Ricardo Hernendez Jr. finished in second place for owner J & J Stables LLC and trainer Jose Carrizales.
Ridden by Gilbert Ortiz, El Camino CL (Heza Fast Dash-Eying Miss Perry) made a game effort and settled for third for owner McGeHee Horse & Cattle LLC and trainer Justin Powell.
Lett It Happen (Jet Black Patriot-Dont Lett Her Down), A Double Corona (Open Me A Corona- Corona Dashin Bye), Dashing Jess Cuervo (Jess Cuervo-Dashing Well), Tee Zo (Tee Cos-Sayin The Blues), JM Friday (Jess Louisiana Blue-Bench Mark Dove), Dianetoseparatefromu (Inseperable-Coronas Concierge) and Get It Done Babe (Heza Fast Dash-Mi Babe) completed the order of finish.
