O SEEYALATER

day after trainer Wesley Oulton, owner Jeffrey
R. W. Rath, and jockey Daniel Garcia won the Alberta Stallion Stakes Derby with O First Sweet Heart, the same team took the $41,207 Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity on July 2 with O Seeyalater. Both races were at Century Mile.
O Seeyalater was the only horse in the eight-horse field with racing experience. She broke extremely professionally for Garcia and barreled straight for the wire. Decider Cartel Queen challenged O Seeyalater briefly midway through the 300 yards, but O Seeyalater sped to the wire 3/4-length in front. She stopped the timer in :15.422, while posting a 104 speed index.
During the Remington Park meeting, O Seeyalater started 3 times under the care of trainer Durk Peery. She finished third in two futurity trials.
Oulton bred O Seeyalater in Oklahoma from stakes-placed Howdoyado. The mare has produced two winners from three starters. Like O First Sweet Heart, O Seeyalater is by First Timber, a multiple Champion Canadian sire owned by Oulton and standing at the trainer’s Rolling O Ranches.
Decider Cartel Queen (Decider-Teller Reba), making her first start, finished second. J.C. Roque rode the filly for trainer Laurie Ferguson and owner James Cusitar.
Northfork Boss (JD Wagon Boss-Northfork Babe) also made his racing debut in the Futurity, and he finished third. Ricardo Moreno rode the gelding for trainer Buckey Stockwell, who owns Northfork Boss with Delton Gehring and breeder Glenn Wills.
Completing the field were Sizzling Wagon (JD Wagon Boss-Northfork Sizzle), Inseperable Cowgirl (Cowboy 109-My Serious Time), Tulsa Timber (First Timber-Mars Move), Righteous Boss (JD Wagon Boss-Righteous Chic), and First Choice Timber (First Timber-Sparkling Hy). First Olaf and Zillas Dusty were scratched.
Alberta Stallion Stakes Derby
O FIRST SWEET HEART

nyone wanting the Trifecta in the $23,392
Alberta Stallion Stakes Derby on July 1 merely had to look at last year’s Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity. The same three horses completed the Trifecta in the same order: O First Sweet Heart, Obsessed Bug, and Destello De Luna.
O First Sweet Heart, ridden by Daniel Garcia,
got away on top and led throughout the 330 yards.
The filly widened her advantage to finish first by 1 1/2-lengths in :16.633, while posting a 110 speed index.
Wesley Oulton, who bred O First Sweet Heart, trains her for owner Jeffrey R. W. Rath. Since last year’s Futurity, O First Sweet Heart won the 2021 John Deere Grand Prairie Juvenile Challenge and her trial for the Alberta Bred Futurity-G3. In the Sept. 19 final, she ran second to Destello De Luna by a nose. The Derby is O First Sweet Heart’s first race back.
Oulton bred the filly in Alberta, Canada, from winner Eyesa Perry. The mare has produced four winners in five starters, including graded stakes winner Eyesa Timber, a full brother to O First Sweet Heart.
William Leach trains Obsessed Bug (Obsessed With Corona-Paulina Bug) and Destello De Luna (Lethal N First-A Mere Toast). J.B. Botello rode Obsessed Bug for owner Travis Reay, and Ricardo Moreno rode Destello De Luna for owners Jane Leech and Haley Moreno. Obsessed Bug and Destello De Luna ran one-two in last year’s Sales Stakes Futurity at Grande Prairie.
Completing the field were Smokin Ziva (Ivory Grips-Ziva The Diva TB), First Golden Rose (First Timber-Madam Goldilocks), Rocky League (Ivory League-Rocky Mountain Lady), Bearcat Bill (First Timber-Splashy Mamacita), Our Storm Chaser (First Timber-Enjoy The Corona), First Authority (First Timber-Sparkling Hy), and SS Pineapple (Cuivre River-Zillas Amour).
La Villita Stakes
KAS SHES EC
Nby Danny Camp
o stranger to stakes races, Kas Shes EC battled
her way to her first stakes victory in the $43,500 La Villita Stakes at Retama Park on July 1.
Ridden by Victor Urieta Jr., Kas Shes EC didn’t get away the best, but steadily gained ground and made a late surge to cross the finish line a head in front. Trained by Juan Diaz Jr., the filly completed the 330 yards in :17.015, which was good for a 97 speed index.
Kas Shes EC brought home the $26,100 winner’s share of the purse for owner/breeder Francisco Garza, boosting her cumulative earnings to $136,285. She now has a race record of 10-5(1)- 2(2)-1(1), which include runner-up attempts in last year’s TQHA Sires’ Cup Futurity-RG3 and John Deere Sam Houston Juvenile Challenge-G3. She was also third in the John Buchanan Memorial earlier this year.
Garza bred Kas Shes EC out of winner Beaukas, who finished third in the 2006 Manor Downs Futurity-G1 and Retama Park Futurity-G1. She has produced seven winners from 12 starters, including top earner and multiple stakes winner Kas Tempting. Kas Shes EC is her fifth stakes winner.
Onthewingsofaneagle (One Famous Eagle- Runaway Renata) had the early lead, but settled for second for owners Sandy Coleman and War Eagle Racing. The Patrick Clemons trainee had Francisco Calderon in the saddle.
Zsuzannah (Hez Fast As Cash-Jess Go) ran a steady and even race to pocket 3rd place money under Clayton Garcia for owner/trainer Jeffery Brooks.
I Was Mooned (Moonin The Eagle-Sassie Wagon), Whatta Revenant (A Revenant-PYC
Oh Whatta Rose), A Fast Ribbon (One Famous Eagle-Fast Prize Ribbon) and Jetsie Corona (One Famous Diamond-Jetsie Cartel) completed the order of finish.
