Third Martini, by Little Request, after winning the 1969 Atlantic Coast Derby.
Bold Adventure, by Little Request, winning the 1970 PCQHRA Futurity at the Los Angeles County Fair.
Myrtle Dee, the dam of Three Bars, was sired by Luke McLuke (shown) who traces back to Sandiway – also in the pedigree of Little Request.
Dial Anna, by Little Request, winning the 1971 Los Dos Laredo Derby at Life Downs.
of Sandfly, the daughter of Sandiway. This gives Myrtle Dee a breeding pattern of 4x4 to Sandiway. This is another interesting blood affinity between Little Request and Three Bars. Sandiway was the winner of 10 stakes, including the Coronation Cup and Nassau Stakes. She was second in the St. Leger, the oldest of the five British classic races. She was sired by Doncaster and out of Clemence by Newminster.
Little Request had success from
the beginning as a Quarter Horse sire.
His first two stakes winners from his
1956 crop were El Diablito, winner of 1958 PCQHRA Futurity and the 1958 Champion Two-Year-Old-Colt. His second stakes winner was Lip Request, who won the 1958 PCQHRA California Bred Futurity and the Kindergarten Futurity as well as the 1959 Johnny Dial Stakes and 1960 Au Revoir Stakes. She was out of Miss Lipstick by Clabber.
The sire record for Little Request shows that he sired 368 foals with 269 starters,
179 racing ROM with 14 stakes winners and 18 stakes placed runners. The leading money earner from his stakes horses is Bar Request, winner of three stakes including the 1964 Bardella Handicap, 1964 Los Alamitos Futurity and 1967 State Fair Stallion Stakes. He is a full brother to Sweetie Bar Miss, winner of the 1968 Las Ninas Handicap and a full brother to Bresa Bar, a stakes-placed runner with seconds in the 1965 Juvenile Championship, 1965 Monita Stakes and 1967 Sunland Championship.
The interesting part of this set of runners is their dam Sweetie Bar. This mare is sired by Three Bars and is out of Honey Bar by Three Bars. They also represent a nick that is supported by the blood affinity we have seen between Little Request and Three Bars. The Little Request on Three Bars sire line mares was a good cross with stakes winners
Little Bar Leta and Hava’s Request out of own daughters of Three Bars. Then we add the stakes winners Third Martini and Bold Adventure out of granddaughters of Three Bars through the sire line. Then we add Dial Anna, who was out of Anna Dial, a daughter of Anna Bar by Three Bars. Then we move down to the stakes placed runners with Brasa Bar, Miss Echo Bar, Our Request and
Little Request is the sire of 1958 Champion El Diablito, 1959 Champion Silver Beau, and 1965 Champion Hy Request, as well as:
