DTL Samureye rustled up his second stakes win of his sophomore campaign going wire-to- wire in the $18,850 Lorelei Paint and Appaloosa
Derby-G2 at Will Rogers Downs on Sept. 29. DTL Samureye made a sharp break from the 5-gate under Agustin Silva and led by 1-length at
the first call. The Paint gelding maintained that separation going into the stretch, and withstood a late rally by Bully Pulpit to reach the wire first sporting a 1/2-length margin. They completed the 400 yards in :20.007, registering an 87 speed index.
Owned by Almada Racing and trained by R.L. Robinson, DTL Samureye now holds three total victories in stakes company, also triumphing in the GCFA Paint & Appaloosa Maturity held in July
at Gillespie County Fair and in last year’s running of the Speedhorse Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G1. DTL Samureye’s record is now 11-4(3)-3(1)-1(1), and the $8,965 prize for this derby increased his total bankroll to $59,585.
Dean and Tonya Lester bred DTL Samureye out of Grade 2 finalist Eysa Savvy Queen. The mare has produced 100% winners from five starters. DTL Samureye is her first stakes winner, while Cashmere Queen, with $62,492, is the top earner of the brood.
The other two horses who hit the board share the same connections: owners Dan and Kay Jones and trainer Matt Whitekiller. Bully Pulpit APHA (CRM Livewire-Judys Apollo), who holds multiple Grade
1 stakes victories and was the post-time favorite
at less than even-money odds, finished second under Cody Smith. DCM Furyofthestorm APHA (Furyofthewind QH-Elaina Go Go) took third with Jose Vega aboard. Followed by Ruthies Hotrod APHA (CRM Livewire -First Down Rose), Cajun Prize ApHC (The Louisiana Cartel QH-Eye On The Prize) and RP Deans Livewire APHA (CRM Livewire-RP Miranda Dash).

RP Live Wire Dash scored his third stakes win in the $81,600 Pot O’ Gold Futurity at Will Rogers Downs on Sept. 29.
The gelding broke on top from the 2-post under
Gonzalo Gutierrez. With a 1-length lead at the
first call, the team continued to lengthen their lead throughout, crossing the wire 1 1/4-lengths in front.
They completed the 350 yards in wire-to-wire fashion in :17.716, posting a 91 speed index.
RP Live Wire Dash brought home the $31,008 winner’s share of the purse for breeder/owner Roy Kent Perkins and trainer Ray Enlow, boosting his total lifetime earnings to $174,785. He now has a race record of 8-6(3)-2(1)-0, including victories in the Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G1 and Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G1.
RP Live Wire Dash was coming off a win in his Sept. 15 trial where he was the fastest qualifier.
Perkins bred RP Live Wire Dash out of placed RP Miss Reckess Dash. She has produced 100% winners from two starters, including 2017 Tulsa State Fair Stakes runner-up RP Recklesslivewire. RP Live Wire Dash is her first stakes winner.
Tightwire (CRM Livewire-Biker Babe) and Randy Wilson were second for owner Paint Horse Queens and trainer Dee Keener.
Memories Of Lil Hero (Little PYC QH-Memories Of Texas) was third under Agustin Silva for owner Levings Racing LLC and trainer Rick Robinson.
JS Prairie Chicken (SF Royal Quick Flash- Imachickenkicker), Live Moonshine (CRM Livewire-PRP Sedona Sunset), MH Wired Up (CRM Livewire-Personal Ensign), Wired For Sound (CRM Livewire-Ze Southern Girl QH), Huaquero (CRM Livewire-Chicks Lacerta) and Hotwired Daddy (CRM Livewire-Money Makin Mama) completed the order of finish. Num Chuck was scratched.
OQHRA Fall Classic

Born To B Bad notched his fourth stakes victory in the $17,874 OQHRA Fall Classic at Will Rogers Downs on Sept. 28.
Sent off as the second choice, Born To B
Bad broke on top from the outside post under jockey Cody Smith. Born To B Bad dueled with Ihaveallthecontrol for the entire 400 yards, besting that rival by 3/4-length at the wire. Receiving every call, Born To B Bad completed the 400 yards in :19.722 for a 94 speed index.
Tammy Johnson trains Born To B Bad for the husband-and-wife team of Melissa Slayton and Cody Bowling.
The $10,230 winner’s share of the purse boosted the gelding’s total lifetime earnings to $206,550. He now has a race record of 24-9(4)-2(1)-3(2), including vic- tories in the 2016 Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge-G3, the 2017 Speedhorse Derby and the 2017 Altoona Derby.
Slayton bred the gelding with N. R. Stevenson out of 3-time winner Dosvedanya. She has produced 100% money earners from three starters. Born
