SINGLES CRUISE

Singles Cruise scored her third stakes victory in the $56,252 Canada Cup Futurity at Century Downs on Oct. 21.
A two-time stakes winner at Grand Prairie, Singles Cruise aced her Oct. 6 trial for the Canada Cup Futurity to qualify the fastest. In the final, she broke outwardly in fifth from the 9-post position while Timbersknightryder flew to the lead.
Singles Cruise began passing horses, collaring the favorite right before the wire to win by a neck
for jockey Ceasar Cervantes. She completed the 400 yards in :19.944, posting an 85 speed index. The $25,569 winner’s share of the purse boosted her total lifetime earnings to $52,241.
Janice Sather trains Singles Cruise and owns
the filly in partnership with her husband, Barry. At Grand Prairie, she won the Jerry Stojan Memorial Futurity and the Evergreen Park Juvenile Challenge.
Steve D. Burns, DVM bred Singles Cruise out of lightly raced Going Single. She has produced 100% money earners from four starters, including 2013 Evergreen Park Derby Challenge winner and New Track Record setter Snowboundbeast. Singles Cruise is her second stakes winner.
Timbersknightryder (First Timber-Sparkling Hy) and Ramiro Castillo finished second for owner Tony Laczo and trainer James Doolin.
Papas Coleen (First Timber-Cash In This Lane) finished third under Martin Ortiz for owner/ breeder/trainer Donalda Cochrane.
Completing the field were O Kingsley (First Timber-Burners Beauty), Special Corona Wave (Wave Carver-Special Corona), Zoomn Wave (Wave Carver-SLS Room To Zoom), JB Runaway Special (JB Runaway Fame-Ms Oakie Is Special), Poutn And Zoomin (Mezoomn-Poutnlori) and Always Right (Stel Corona-Hard Lining). Goldin Warrior was scratched.
Canada Cup Derby
STRIPSTEAK

Stripsteak cooked up a huge finish in the Canada Quarter Horse Cup Derby, capturing his second career stakes win in the $26,912 event at Century Downs on Oct. 21.
The second-fastest qualifier and post-time favorite, Stripsteak closed from fourth to first dur- ing the final 100 yards, emerging at the lead of a blanket finish. The gelding was unruly in the gate and broke inward from the 4-post in 8th, but jockey Ricardo Moreno kept Stripsteak on course. William Leech trains Stripsteak, who finished his 400-yard trip in :19.822 to register an 88 speed index and secure a $12,233 payday that swelled his total earn- ings to $40,402.
A 3-year-old gelding owned by Charles G. Stojan, Stripsteak tallied both his victories in stakes company in his sophomore campaign. He also won the Peace Country Derby, held July 29 at Grande Prairie, and improved his overall record to 13-8(2)- 1-1 with a 400 yard Ntr at Century Downs in 2017.

Also owned by Stojan and trained by Leech, True Copy (TR Dasher-Realistically) finished second under J.B. Botello.
First Prize Cruise (First Prize Doc-Eye Cruise) and Martin Ortiz took third for owner/trainer Tom Kenway.
JD Wagon Boss (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Elly Mae), Knotty Knita (First Timber-Ima Jess A Streaker), Dont Hezitate (Ivory James-Jess Brimmin To Go), Bringonthewave (Wave Carver-Special Corona), Thisbudsforyou (Streakinisanattitude- Highnest TB) and JB Fictation (Unification TB-Exotic Fame) completed the order of finish. Atomic Blondie was scratched.
Evangeline Downs Dash
GLOBITO

Globito captured the first stakes of his career in the 220-yard $20,000 Evangeline Downs Dash on Oct. 5.
With Luis Vivanco in the irons, Globito broke sec- ond from the 6-gate and immediately took command. Despite drifting in, he lengthened his advantage throughout the contest and defeated favored JRS Taylors Runnaway by 3/4-length in :11.570, posting a 107 speed index.
Josue Huitron trains Globito for breeder/owner Isabel Huitron. Prior to the Evangeline Downs Dash, Globito took two allowance races at the Gillespie Fair over the summer where he set a 220-yard New Track Record in one of those. At two in 2017, he won twice at Retama Park and once at Lone Star Park. The colt, who has now earned $42,518, was also a finalist in the 2017 TQHA Sale Futurity-RG2.
Huitron bred Globito out of 3-time winner and 2-time Graded stakes finalist Trampstamp. The mare has produced 100% money earners from two starters. Globito is her first stakes winner and top earner.
JRS Taylors Runnaway (Sir Runaway Dash-No Matches Tonight) finished second under jockey Jorge Linares for owner Rosalio Espinosa and trainer Martin Trejo. The 3-year-old gelding was coming
off a victory in the Gentilly Dash Stakes. Luciano Duenez piloted Ms Leaving You (Coronas Leaving You-Ms Pilot Point) to third for owners McGehee Horse and Cattle LLC and trainer Kenneth Weeks. Ms Leaving You had most recently captured the Audobon Stakes and Par A Dice Stakes. Followed by Mariachy King (Chief Corona-Lil Prairie Maid), DM La Jolla (Hiclass La Jolla-DM Bella Mia), Memphis D Nasty (FDD Dynasty-Jess A Cartel), Lil Bro Big Streak (Jet Black Patriot-Annas Streakin Dash), Straw Bux (Zoomin For Bux-Mountain Straw), and Lil Gal Pal (Agouti-Our Dashing Gal). Zenergetic was scratched.
