Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes
ROCKETAIR
by Tracy Gantz
Rocketair ran to his name in the May 24 Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes at Remington Park, rocketing from fourth to grab the victory.
The card for Oklahoma-breds had to be con-
ducted on a sloppy, sealed track, conditions that didn’t bother Rocketair. Breaking from the outside post position, he veered outward in the initial strides, giving the edge to several others. But he overcame the disadvantage, and under jockey Ivan Carnero he came on late to defeat favored Load Your Guns by a neck in :19.839 for the 400 yards.
Clinton Crawford trains the 4-year-old gelding for owners Karen & Preston Cloud. Rocketair won the 2013 Black Gold Futurity Championship-RG3, fin- ished 2nd in the 2014 Heritage Place Derby-G2 and 2015 Sunland Championship Challenge-G2, and ran 3rd in the 2014 Refrigerator Handicap-G1 and Texas Classic Derby-G1. With the Boyd Morris victory, Rocketair increased his lifetime earnings to $335,564.
Bob Moore Farms LLC bred Rocketair from winner Rivanne, a full sister to Champion Ive Been Blessed and a 1/2-sister to Champions Florentine (also a Broodmare of the Year) and Calyx. Rivanne has produced 5 winners from 13 starters, including stakes winner The Ravin Maniac. The Ravin Maniac has produced stakes-placed Jessica Ravin, the dam of Grade 3 winner Paintyourownwagon.
Load Your Guns (Corona Cartel-Dashing Little Reba) was 2nd under Cesar Gomez for JK Running Horses LLC and trainer Kenny Laymon. Earlier
this year, Load Your Guns was 2nd in the Mr. Jet Moore Handicap-RG3. Gene Cox’s multiple stakes placed homebred Novas Gold (Gold Medal Jess-Hot Nova) ran 3rd under Benito Baca for trainer Donnie Strickland. Followed by A Toss Up (Sweet First Down-Shake Cartel), Wagon Tales (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Signs Zoomer) & Walking Perry (Walk Thru Fire-Perry Story). Nash Wagon Special scratched.

The filly also set a New Track Record at Remington Park in 2014, covering 330-yards in :16.344.
