                 New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity (RG3)
Sent to post as the 2-1 favorite in a full field of 10 state-bred 2-year-olds, Major Game earned his first stakes victory in the May
22, $120,000-added New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity (RG3) at SunRay Park.
Major Game went 350 yards in :17.357 while posting a 104 speed index under jockey Sergio Becerra Jr., and his winning margin
was a neck from fastest qualifier and 3-1 second choice Sheza Ahotmess. Eric Valenzuela prepped the Gronkowski colt for owners Jaime Perez, Andres Estrada and J. Santos Espinoza.
Major Game was bred by Mike Abraham, and the colt set the third-fastest qualifying time with his one-length win victory in one of seven New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity trials on May 6. His sire, Gronkowski, is a winning and stakes-placed 8-year-old son of the First Down Dash stallion Walk Thru Fire. Racing in six states from 2016-18, Gronkowski earned $79,589 from 21 outs, and he was
a finalist in the 2016 Oklahoma G3 and Evangeline Downs futurities.
Gronkowski has sired the earners of more than $118,100 from his first crop. A full brother to stakes winners JM Specialwynn
and Fly Thru The Fire, and a half to Grade 1 winners Rock You and Little Talks, the stallion is owned by Cesar Nunez.
Major Game is out of A Major Chamisa, a 12-year-old homebred unraced daughter of
the Rime stallion Major Rime, and he is a half-brother to 2020 New Mexico State Fair Futurity (RG3) finalist Hes A Major Chick. His second dam, the homebred winning Chicks A Blazin mare Chicks Chamisa,
has foaled three graded stakes winners, including two full sisters to A Major Chamisa: Rime Has A Chick, the winner
of the 2008 Manuel Lujan Handicap (RG3) and Pelican Stakes (RG3) at Albuquerque Downs, and Me Chickie, the winner of
the 2009 Lineage Championship (RG2) at Albuquerque Downs.
Major Game traces back to his third dam, Moolahs Parade, a homebred daughter of
the Sparkling Native (TB) stallion Sparkling Moolah and a full sister to stakes winners Parade The Moolah and Macy Day Parade. A 1987 foal, Moolahs Parade produced graded stakes winners Nathans Rocket and Moolahs Crown, both half siblings to Chicks Chamisa.
Campaigned exclusively in New Mexico, Major Game has won three of four starts and has earned $115,073. The colt’s spring resume includes a third-place finish, one length behind winner Jesses Wish, in the April 3, $313,000 New Mexican Spring Futurity (RG2) at Sunland Park.
Jess Emotions finished third, a nose behind runner-up Sheza Ahotmess’ Flash Divine, Flecha Gris, J Y Jaaziel, Jess Call Me Mason,
Elisas Esperance, BF Daddys Diva and Flash Me The Price completed the order of finish. Sheza Ahotmess was coming off of a 1
3/4-length win in the first of seven New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity trials. A homebred daughter of the First To Flash stallion First Moonflash and a finalist in the New Mexican Spring Futurity, the bay filly has won two of four races and has banked $48,292 for her owner, Sherree Meridyth.
Jess Emotions, the sixth-fastest qualifier, is a bay daughter of the Chicks A Blazin stallion Jess A Chicks racing for Gustavo Cadena. A $10,500 yearling purchase at last year’s New Mexico-Bred Sale at Ruidoso Downs and a half-sister to stakes winner Midnite Blu, the filly has earned $14,117 from four starts.
Major Game’s winning connections include owners Jamie Perez, Andres Estrada, & Santos J. Espinoza, trainer Eric Valenzuela, and jockey Sergio Becerra Jr.
