  WASCALLYWITTLEWABBIT
A sharp break from post 2 helped Rogers Farms’ Wascallywittlewabbit score a wire-to-wire victory in the May 28, 870-yard Remington Park Distance Championship (G1) at Remington Park.
Ridden by Josh Romero and racing against a reported 10-mph head wind in the homestretch, Wascallywittlewabbit defeated Shockinglyfamous by two lengths in :44.998. Mike Joiner trained the 7-year-old Heza Motor Scooter gelding, who earned a 98 speed index and $32,142 from his second graded stakes win this year.
”It was an amazing race for him, like always,” said Romero. “I just tried to stay with (Jessa Bit Of Candy) for as long as I could because I didn’t want my horse to go out too fast too soon. When I asked him to run in the lane, it was incredible.”
Wascallywittlewabbit was bred in New Mexico by Mike Weatherly. His sire,
the Heza Fast Man stallion Heza Motor Scooter, earned $259,682 from 26 starts in New Mexico and California from 2000-02, and his seven wins included the 2001 El Primero Del Ano Derby (G2) at Los Alamitos.
Heza Motor Scooter has sired the earners of more than $4.2 million from 14 crops, including 2012 AQHA champion aged horse Rylees Boy and 2012 AQHA champion distance horse All About Larry. The stallion died in May 2015.
Wascallywittlewabbit is out of Rabbits N Diamonds, an unraced daughter of the Yawls Rabbit stallion Rabbits Rainbow. The gelding’s second dam, the Coup de Kas (TB) mare Shines Likea Diamond, won the 1998 KHEY/Y96 Handicap at Sunland Park and was a finalist in the 1999 West Texas (G3) and Sunland Park Winter (G3) derbies. A 1996 New Mexico- bred foal, Shines Likea Diamond produced Rainbows N Diamonds, a stakes-winning full sister to Rabbits N Diamonds.
The sport’s reigning distance champion, Wascallywittlewabbit began defense of his title with a 3 1/2-length
win in the March 31, $50,880 Pauls Valley Stakes (G2) at Remington Park. All told, the gelding has won 13 of 24 starts, and the winner’s share of the purse from his second consecutive Remington Park Distance championship win bumped his earnings to $344,188.
Holy Storm ran third, 4 1/4 lengths behind Wascallywittlewabbit, and was followed by Bubba Bad, Cold Brewster, Jessa Bit Of Candy and Bojangles Comin.
Runner-up Shockinglyfamous earned $10,714 for his owners, Stone Chase Stables LLC and Kasey Willis. The 6-year-old One Famous Eagle stallion has won seven of 29 starts and has banked $220,990.
A homebred 6-year-old Red Storm Cat gelding, Holy Storm earned the $5,893 third-place share of the purse for his owner, Daniel Kjorsvik of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Holy Storm has won eight of 47 races and has banked $178,117.
Wascallywittelwabbit.’s winning connections include owner Rogers Farms, trainer Michael Joiner and jockey Josh Romero.
