Jess a zoomin si 94, $36,990
Jess A Zoomin (inside) and G.R. Carter Jr. scored a nose victory over Krash Cartel in the 21st trial to set the second-fastest qualifying time of the day.
Krash Cartel (#10) and Rodrigo Vallejo finished second by a nose in the 21st All American Futurity trial, stopping the clock with the third-fastest qualifying time.
Race Record: 4-3-0-0
Owned and bred by Ted Abrams, Jess A Zoomin was the only All American Futurity qualifier for his trainer, Heath Reed, and his jockey, G.R. Carter
Jr. Jess A Zoomin won his first two outs—a maiden race at Remington Park and a trial to the Ruidoso
Futurity-G1—before finishing sixth behind PJ Chick In Black in
the $600,000 Ruidoso Futurity. His fourth and final start was in the 21st trial to the All American Futurity, which he won by a nose after breaking slowly and making a strong rally to take the lead and hold off favored Krash Cartel at the wire. Jess A Zoomin was vanned off the track following his All American Futurity trial win and later eutha- nized. A $35,000 repurchase as a yearling, Jess A Zoomin was sired
by Shazoom and out of the winning Mr Jess Perry mare Jess A Classy Lassy, who was a finalist in the Grade 1 Rainbow Futurity during
her racing career. His second dam was Mighty Classy Lassy, a graded stakes-placed mare who has produced eight winners from nine starters including All American Futurity qualifier Jess A Classy Lad.
Race Record: 4-1-3-0
Krash Cartel’s entire career has been spent in the trials and finals of Ruidoso Downs’ Triple Crown races. Owned by Los Primitos, the Corona Cartel colt was extremely impressive in his debut, winning a trial to the Ruidoso Futurity-G1
by 4 1/4 lengths to set their
fastest qualifying time for the finals. He returned to finish second to PJ Chick In Black in the Ruidoso Futurity, and moved right ahead to the Rainbow Futurity trials. Despite finishing second by a nose in his Rainbow trial, he failed to make the finals. His connections set his sights on the All American Futurity trials, and Krash Cartel responded with a solid qualifying effort under jockey Rodrigo Vallejo, who
was riding the colt for the first time. Krash Cartel is trained by John Stinebaugh, who will also saddle PJ Chick In Black and Just Wanna Corona in the All American Futurity. Bred by Bollenbach Farms, Krash Cartel was a $72,000 purchase at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. He is a half-brother to stakes winner A Hot Valentine, out of the winning Strawfly Special mare Race Valentine. His second dam is Champion Speedy Empress.
