Owner Douglas Traylor paid $22,000 for Just Wanna Corona at the 2011 Los Alamitos Equine Sale, where he was consigned by breeders Vaughn Cook and Paul Jones. Just Wanna Corona is out of the Dash To Chivato mare Just Wanna Be Me, a stakes winner of $56,922. She is a half-sister to All American Futurity third-place finisher Devons Signature and to stakes-placed Grade 1 finalist See If I Care. Just Wanna Corona’s second dam is Shirley B Gayle, a Grade 1 winner of more than $600,000. Of all of the 2012 All American Futurity finalists, Native Tea Rose carried
the highest price tag as a yearling when the filly sold for $330,000 at the Ruidoso Select Sale to owner Abigail K. Kawananakoa. Bred
by Bob and Jerry Gaston, Native Tea Rose is out of
their great mare St Pats Tea, who has produced the earners of more than $1 million including Grade 1 winner Bodacious Dash and graded stakes winner St Pats First. Native Tea Rose is one of nine winners from 12 starters for St Pats Tea, who was herself a stakes winner on the racetrack. Kawananakoa will be trying for her second All American Futurity
win, as she also won the race in 1993 with A Classic Dash. Native Tea Rose is the only All American Futurity qualifier for her trainer, Cody Joiner, and her jockey, Cody Jensen. Like Kawananakoa, Jensen has won the All American in the past—in 2005 with Teller Cartel and 2006 with No Secrets Here. The All American Futurity will be the first stakes appearance for Native Tea Rose, who won a maiden race at Los Alamitos before finishing third in a trial to the Rainbow Futurity-G1.
