BP Cartels Alibi has already won one million- dollar race this year and will be trying for his second in the All American Futurity. Owned by 19-year-old college student Raymundo Villarreal Jr., BP Cartels Alibi won the Heritage Place Futurity at Remington
Park, and was subsequently supplemented to the All American Futurity trials for $50,000. Jockey Ricky Ramirez has ridden BP Cartels Alibi in all of his starts. Trey Wood trained BP Cartels Alibi in Oklahoma, and turned the colt over to his father, trainer Blane Wood, at Ruidoso. Denis Winn, a long-time friend of the Villarreal family, bought BP Cartels Alibi as agent for $40,000 at the 2011 Heritage Place Yearling Sale from the Lazy E, Agent, consignment of breeder Bill Price. BP Cartels Alibi
is out of the Chicks Beduino daughter My Ladys Alibi, a grade stakes- placed earner of $70,000. The dam of eight winners from nine starters, My Ladys Alibi has also produced stakes-placed Cartel Lady and Grade 1 finalist First Dashaway. BP Cartels Alibi’s second dam is Ima Ladys Alibi, a Grade 1-winning daughter of Sir Alibi.
Race Record: 2-1-0-1
Mr Perry Cartel will
be the least experienced horse in the All American Futurity field, as the gelding was making only his second start in the All American trials. His first start was
in a trial to the Rainbow Futurity, where he turned
in a non-qualifying third-
place effort. Mr Perry Cartel turned things around in the All American trials, breaking his maiden by three-quarters of a length and qualifying with the ninth-fastest time. Bred by La Feliz Montana Ranch, Mr Perry Cartel was purchased for $17,000 at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale
by Javier and Elsa Marquez’s J and M Racing and Farm, of Monahans, Texas. The gelding is by freshman sire Carters Cartel, and is the first foal out of the Grade 1 stakes-placed winning Mr Jess Perry mare
Miss Lena Perry. His second dam is a sister to stakes winners Corona Cash, Valiant Hero and Corona Czech, while his third dam is multiple Champion Corona Chick. Alejandro Sanchez conditions Mr Perry Cartel, who has been ridden in both of his career starts by jockey Felipe Garcia-Luna.
