The Ruidoso Futurity is the first leg of Ruidoso Downs’ All American Futurity Triple Crown, which pays a $2-million bonus to
the connections of a two year old who can win the Ruidoso-G1, Rainbow-G1, and All American-G1 futurities.
Valles said that Blue Corazon would be pointed to the July 6-7 Rainbow Futurity trials.
A $13,000 buy at last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale, Suze Returns (High Rate Of Return-Brown Eye Suze) was trained by Juan Carlos Gonzalez for owner Joe Rios of El Paso, Texas. Jaime Parga Leos rode the sorrel filly, who was undefeated going into this race from three starts, including a victory in the $269,528 West Texas Futurity-G2 at Sunland Park on April 14.
Jest Famous (Mr Jess Perry-Famous Corona Lady) finished third for owner MRB Racing LLC. A $200,000 purchase at last year’s Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, the sorrel gelding was ridden by Ricky Ramirez for trainer Blane Wood. Jest Famous also won his trial heat to the Ruidoso Futurity.
PJ Splash Of Joy (First Moonflash-Jenuine Joy), Im Jess Special V (Jess Lips-Special
Folly Dash), Tempting Special (Tempting Dash-Eyema Special Candy), overall fastest qualifier and 9-5 favorite Flash And Roll (First Moonflash-Stylish Jess BR), Corona Squared (Corona Cartel-Louisiana Corona), and One Famous Stone (One Famous Eagle-Strength In Numbers) completed the order of finish. The Runaway Favorite was scratched.
