WILD TYCOON

Wild Tycoon proved he was the best, winning his first stakes in the 110-yard Texas Twister Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park on May 6.
Wild Tycoon broke on top from the 5-gate and within two strides was at top speed. Rider Raul Ramirez was aboard Wild Tycoon for the first time and only used a hand ride to finish 1/2-length in front, stopping the clock in :6.920. They earned a 102 speed index and also the $9,000 winner’s share of the $15,000 purse, boosting the gelding’s cumula- tive earnings to $51,511. His race record now stands at 7(1)-2(1)-0 from 18 starts.
Wild Tycoon’s connections include owner Rogelio Marquez, Jr. and trainer Carlos Saldivar. The sorrel gelding was bred in Louisiana by Richard & Janelle Simon out of winner First Down Hemp. She has produced 100% money earners from 15 start- ers, including New Track Record setter/top earner Jet Black Patriot who is a Leading Sire and won the 2008 LQHBA Futurity-G1, Lee Berwick Futurity-RG1 and the Mardi Gras Futurity-G2. Wild Tycoon is her second stakes winner. He set a New Track Record at Louisiana Downs for 220 yards.
The dead heat for second included Katharsis (American Runaway-All About Ease) under Eddie Sanchez for owner Emmanuel Villarreal and trainer Jose Sanchez; and Red Corona Warrior (Coronas First Dash-Prairie War Princess) under Luciano Duenez for owner Alamada Racing and trainer Josue Ponce.
Undivided Atemption (Tempting Dash-Efforts Easy Dash), Surviving Legend (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Surviving Success), Shezarealfast (Hez Fast As Cash-Shezarealsissy), Last Man Standin (Jodys Money Pop-La Jollas Game), On The Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-XO Kate), Shakem Valentine (Royal Shake Em-Relagation) and Shine Rock N Roll (First To Shine-Rockin A Rocks) completed the field.

DASH QUICK PERRY

Dash Quick Perry, a homebred 3 year old campaigned by Pete A. Scarmardo of Texas, was successful in his first out against aged sprinters,
as the sorrel gelding dominated the $15,000 Sam Houston Stakes on May 19.
Prepped by Leon Bard, Dash Quick Perry broke on top from the 8-gate and covered 350 yards in :17.668 by a clear 1 1/2 lengths, scoring a wire-to- wire victory. The gelding earned a 92 speed index. The $9,000 winner’s share of the purse from his first career stakes score bumped his cumulative earnings to $65,754.
Dash Quick Perry is out of stakes placed winner Quickid Perry. She has produced 100% money earners from seven starters, including Texas Hi-Point 3-Year-Old Gelding Kid Can Dash, who ran third
in last year’s Dash For Cash Derby-G3. Dash Quick Perry is her top earner and first stakes winner.
Dash Quick Perry’s second dam, Rustys Quickid, won the 2002 Cypress Handicap at Los Alamitos and was a finalist in the 2001 Dash For Cash Futurity-G1 at Lone Star Park.
Raced in Texas and Louisiana, Dash Quick Perry has won five of 10 starts, and earned a third-place finish in the April 29 Sam Houston Derby-G3.
My Moment Of Fame (Jumpn Chic-Moment Of Epiphany) races for Holly Hooper from the barn of trainer Angel Sanchez. Jose Ivan Martinez rode the 4-year-old gelding.
Grand Ilusion (Shazoom-Jess An Illusion) ran third for owner Crown Racing. Rodrigo Vallejo rode the 5-year-old gelding for trainer Judd Kearl.
Sizzlin Mr Perry (Mr Jess Perry-Sizzling Lola), Cazzadores (Ragazzo-Cindys First CD), Like A Denali (Jodys Money Pop-Romancing Mary), Dash Dont Cheat (Down N Dash-Special Cheat) and DM La Jolla (Hiclass La Jolla-DM Bella Mia) completed the order of finish.

THRIVING IVORY

Aday of rain showers wasn’t slowing the horses down at Sam Houston Race Park on May 22, when not only Sam Houston Distaff Stakes winner Thriving Ivory clocked a AAA+ speed index, but 4 out of 8 of the fillies & mares in the race also clocked AAA/AAA+ time.
Piloted by Francisco Calderon, Thriving Ivory broke third from the inside gate and was in the lead in the stretch by 1/2-length. Driving strong, the 3-year-old filly led the pack and won the 300-yard race by that same margin in :15.113, earning a career high 111 speed index.
Second in the 2016 TQHA Sale Futurity-RG2 and a Grade 3 finalist in this year’s Sam Houston Derby, Thriving Ivory captured her first stakes win in the Sam Houston Distaff for owner Agustin Hernandez and trainer Angel Sanchez. The $9,000 winner’s share for the win brought her career earn- ings to $127,333 from nine outs.
Bred by Bobby D. Cox, Thriving Ivory is a $9,200 TQHA Sale graduate out of winner Shes Dashin First. The mare is the dam of three foals and Thriving Ivory is her first foal to race, making the mare a 100% stakes producer to start off her career as a broodmare.
Zoomin N Celebrating (Azoom-Feefees Celebration) finished second under Noe Villatoro for owners Chad & Esmeralda Peck and trainer Judd Kearl. Barefoot Beach (Ivory James-Babe On The Beach) finished third under Rodrigo Vallego for owner Samuel Martinez and trainer Judd Kearl.
Jess Iam First Royal (MJB Corona-Iam First Royal), Apollitical Girl (Apollitical Jess-HRH Midnight Express), Hiclass Ms (Hiclass La Jolla-Miss Crock Of Cash), Ima Dashing Gator (Tempting Dash-Sweet N Salty TB) & Wish A Tong (Streakin South Tong-Victory Feverette) completed the field.
