Bucking Horse Sale Futurity
TANQUERY DASH

Tanquery Dash secured his first stakes victory from his second start in the $25,770 Bucking Horse Sale Futurity in Miles City, Montana, on May 21.
Tanquery Dash broke on top from the 6-post, but slipped to second in the stretch. He was able to grab the lead at the wire to finish a nose in front. Ridden by Holly Gervais, Tanquery Dash covered the 300 yards in :15.847 and earned a 90 speed index.
The sorrel gelding took home the $12,885 win- ner’s share of the purse and pushed his cumulative earnings to $13,085. Tanqueray Dash is owned by Gerald F. Kaul and trained by Jesse Villegas. His only other start is a second place finish in his May 14 trial heat where he was the fifth fastest qualifier to the finals of this stakes event.
Tanquery Dash was home-bred in Wyoming
out of stakes winner Dashin Dashetta, half-sister to stakes placed Go Roller Coaster, who ran third in the Dan Lockie Derby in Miles City on May 21. Dashin Dashetta has produced 100% money earners from five starters, including stakes placed runners Its Mr Perry To You and Lil Bit Of A Secret. Top earner Corona With Lime, winner of the 2008 Wyoming All Breed Futurity, and Tanquery Dash are her only stakes winners to date.
Jesse Villegas also trained fastest qualifier Eyesa Special Cirrus (Eysa Special Slim-Lil Shameless Angel), who, despite an outstanding effort, came in second for owner Steve Day. Luis Peralta was in the irons. Under Jospeh Belloc Jr., Over Drive Man (Country Chicks Man-Georgia Gatorette) finished third for owner Mike Lipp and trainer David Greene.
A Toast To Brindis (Brindis Por Cayenne-A Secret Life), Super Starr (Hadtobenuts-All Star Elite), Jr Kaweahs Mountain (Jr Dynasty Mountain-Kaweahs Corona), My Little Aleida (Buildemhigh-Runaway Lucky), Imma Make U Jealous (Im Alright Now-Just A Bit Jealous) completed the order of finish.
Dan Lockie Derby
EYESA SPECIAL SHADOW

Second fastest qualifier Eyesa Special Shadow secured his first stakes victory and set a New Track Record in the $20,305 Dan Lockie Derby at Miles City, Montana, on May 21.
In the May 14 Dan Lockie Derby trials, Eyesa Special Shadow made a wire-to-wire run, finishing his heat in :18.136 with a 3-length winning margin under rider Luis Peralta. The pair scored the second fastest qualifying time to the finals behind Super Coup Counter.
Assisted by a 15 mph tail wind in the Dan Lockie Derby finals, Eyesa Special Shadow and Peralta broke from the 6-post in second. The team was able to quickly grab the lead in the stretch and score a 1/2-length victory. Eyesa Special Shadow completed the 350 yards in :17.700, earning a career high 104 speed index and beating the previous track record of :17.768 set by Sheza Quick Chick on May 8, 2013.
Eyesa Special Shadow took home the $10,153 winner’s share of the purse for owner Juanita Villegas, pushing his total earnings to $22,451. Jesse Villegas trained Eyesa Special Secret as well as sec- ond and third place finishers Eyesa Special Harper and Go Roller Coaster.
Eyesa Special Shadow was bred by Broken Bones Cattle Company in Wyoming out of 2-time winner Lil Shameless Angel. The mare has produced five starters, including top earner Lil Shameless Sage, who won the 2014 Wyoming Bred Futurity, and stakes places Eyesa Special Cirrus, who set a New Track Record at Miles City for 300 yards in the May 14 trials to the Bucking Horse Sale Futurity.
Eyesa Special Shadow is the second stakes winner in the brood. The gelding now has a race record of 5(1)-1(1)-0 from eight career starts. He also finished second in last year’s Wyoming All Breed Futurity.
Eyesa Special Harper (Eyesa Special Slim- Streakin Camilla) finished second for owner Broken Bones Cattle Company with Sam Padilla aboard.
Go Roller Coaster (Brindis Por Cayenne- Dashetta Go) finished third, another 1/2-length behind the second-place finisher, under Manuel Estrada for owner Gerald Kaul.
Had To Be Dreaming (Hadtobenuts-Just A Bit Jealous) finished fourth and was followed by Super Coup Counter (Profit Increase-Madam Coup), Zebbies Lil Wrangler (First Wrangler-Mist Chiseled Spirit) and Jessa Jet (Jess My Moon-Separate Jet). There was a lot of bumping in the race, and Runnin Bear Nay Kid (Profit Increase-Bearly Classy) lost his jockey and did not finish.
Sonoita Ranchers Challenge

Captain On Takeoff soared to his 6th victory in the $19,000 Sonoita Ranchers Bonus Challenge at Santa Cruz County Fair on May 6. This was a
well-deserved win after a runner-up attempt in the challenge last year.
The track was fast with perfect conditions when Captain On Takeoff shot from the 7-post with Emilio Tapia in the irons. Racing for owner Joel Merino Gamez and trainer Charles Acosta, Captain On Takeoff defeated the competition, crossing the wire a neck in front. The duo clocked a time of :17.203, earning a 112 speed index. The gelding took home the $9,120 winner’s share of the purse, making his total lifetime earnings $53,550. This marks his second stakes win, with his first being in the 2016 running of the Wayne Brasher Memorial Stakes at Turf Paradise.
Captain On Takeoff was bred by Burnett Ranches LLC out of lightly raced Takeoff Royally. She has produced 100% money earners from 14 starters, including her top earner All American F.-G1 and West Texas F.-G1 2nd placed Take Off Jess, stakes placed Jess Take Off, Grade 1 finalist Poker Chip 831, and NW Hi-point Aged Stallion Mr Jesse Lee. Captain On Takeoff is her first stakes winner.
Apollitical Boogie (Apollitical Jess-Shakin Ana Dashin) fought hard, but came in second for owner Amado De La Riva and trainer Eloy Mendoza. Rodolfo Arvizu did the riding.
Jess Wilson (Feature Mr Jess-Chicksdashn) was able to make up ground for a third place finish for owner Francisco Rivera-Martinez and trainer Charles Acosta. Luis Yescas was in the irons.
Mr JB Perry (Mr Jess Perry-Jumpn Beduino), Fitz (Mr Jess Perry-Dividends Declared), Wyreit (Hard Hitting-You Dazzle Me), Cant Buy Love (FDD Dynasty-For Love N Money) completed the order of finish. Block N Tackle was scratched.
