TOMMY THE TRAIN

Fastest qualifier Tommy The Train recovered from a bobbled start to win the $139,440 Governor’s Stakes for 2 year olds at Indiana Grand on Oct. 22.
Ridden by David Pinon and trained by Larry Sharp for owners Jon Barley, Brant Barley, and Brad Sharp, Tommy The Train broke fourth from the 4-gate and was bumped at the start, but took the lead in the stretch and defeated Damn Strait by a nose in :17.640 for the 350 yards. The $76,692 winner’s share of the pushed his earnings to $96,890 from six outs.
“It takes a good horse to stumble and come back and pass horses like that,” said Pinon. “I couldn’t have asked for more.”
The bay gelding won his Oct. 8 trial heat by 2 lengths to earn the fastest qualifier spot to the finals.
Tommy The Train was bred by Duane Murphy in Missouri out of Grade 2 winner/New Track Record setter Okie Dokey Annie. She has produced 100% winners from five starters, including top earner Sudden Separation, who won five stakes including last year’s $100,000 Merial Distaff Challenge Championship-G1. Tommy The Train is her second stakes winner.
Damn Strait (Dominyun-Hottesticketintown) finished second. The gelding was prepped by Rodney Reed for owner M.C. Stucks. Rodney Prescott rode the sorrel gelding.
Eyes So Sweet (One Sweet Jess-Britts Special Eyes) ran third for owner Jose M. Chavez. Alejandro Luna rode the bay filly for trainer Sacramento Chavez.
Ladys Freighttrain B (Freighttrain B-Marmalade Lady), Keala Kennelly (Wave Carver-KGB Agent Anna), WRS Whoseyourdaddy (Big Daddy Cartel-WRS Kool Jess), Prudish Cartel (Corona Cartel-Behold This Check), Switching Stones (First Prize Stone-RM Switching Chicks) and Shurr Furr (Furrtreeous-Classic Heart) completed the order of finish. Tres Seis Delight was scratched.

TF JESS A LEADER

TF Jess A Leader won his first stakes race in the $130,360 QHRAI Derby for three year olds at the Indiana Grand Race Course on Oct. 22.
TF Jess A Leader started in the seventh postposi- tion under jockey Jesse Levario. The pair sprinted
to an early lead after brushing at the start. Despite
a fast field and a late challenger, the sorrel gelding claimed his first stakes win going away from the pack and finishing 1 1/4-lengths ahead. They covered the 400-yard fast track in :19.637, earning a career best 101 speed index.
The gelding’s earnings jumped to a healthy sum of $102,273 after claiming the $71,698 winner’s share of the purse for owner Jose Chavez and trainer Sacramento Chavez. TF Jess A Leader finished third in his Oct. 8 trial heat for the fourth fastest qualifier spot.
TF Jess A Leader was bred by Elliott Clark, Sr. in Louisiana out of Grade 2 winner TF Ms Special Perry. She has produced three stakes winners from 11 starters including TF Jess A Leader, 2-time stakes winner Not Perry Pretty, and top earner/Hobbs America Derby-G3 winner TF Im That Guy.
Dynamite 123 (FDD Dynasty-Tresor 123) took second under jockey Luis Ruiz for owner Lorena Gutierrez and trainer Ismael Solis-Guevara.
The favorite, Captain BD (Captain Courage- Brazilian Dasher) finished third under Alejandro Luna for owner David Gonzalez and trainer Sacramento Chavez, who also trained the winner.
A Tacky Chick (Tac It Like A Man-A Chick Of Class), Slick Melody (Apollitical Jess-Slick Treasure), Persistent PYC (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Windy Perry), Beyondthegamewagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Beyondthegame), WH Kenny G (Gold Medal Jess-Designer Dash) and BP Tres Seis Policy (Tres Seis-CC Policy) completed the order of finish. WRS Quick Eagle scratched.
Hoosier Park Classic
STINKIN RICH

After obtaining new rider Rolando Pina, Stinkin Rich has captured three wins in a row. The lat- est was the Hoosier Park Classic at Indiana Grand on Oct. 8. It was a great day for racing and eight entries lined up, eyeballing the $82,300 purse at the end of the track.
Stinkin Rich broke second from the 7-post and was in the lead by the first call. Rolando Pina and the gelding demolished the field, finishing 1-length in front for the 400-yard race. They stopped the clock at :19.730 to earn a 98 speed index. The gelding has now earned a total of $335,574 with the $46,911 winner’s share of the purse.
Stinkin Rich is owned/bred by Carolyn Bruce and trained by Matt Frazier. Bruce bred Stinkin Rich out of 2-time winner Miss Scarlet. She has produced 100% money earners from four starters, including additional stakes winner CB Come Fly With Me. Her top earner/multiple stakes winner
is Stinkin Rich, whose wins include the 2014 Miss Roxie Little Futurity, 2014 Jaguar Rocket, and this year’s Bob Woodard Memorial Classic, all run an Indiana Downs.
Beach Birde (Escondido Beach-Jess Alive Bully) ran a steady and even race, finishing second. Her team includes owner Sheri Miller and trainer Randy Smith. Juan Galvan was in the saddle.
Beach Cartel (Escondido Beach-Flashin Dee Dee) finished third under Berkley Packer. His connections include owner Sheri Miller and trainer Randy Smith.

Mans Dash) finished fourth and was followed by Pistolpacking Pepsi (Jesse James Jr-Wave Of Pepsi), Beach Runner (Escondido Beach-Flashin Dee Dee), Sparky McClone (Hard Hitting-Somethin Fast) and Chilled Six Pack (Chilled Corona-Six Packin Robin).
