Datona Doll had impressive credentials entering the $205,903 New Mexico Classic Derby-RG2 finals at Zia Park on Oct. 30.
Datona Doll stood quiet in the 8-post under Ricky Ramirez and broke mid-pack when the gates opened. The filly edged away in the stretch, taking the lead to the wire 3/4-length in front. She stopped the clock at :21.499 for a 98 speed index to pocket the $98,833
first place money for owners Mark and Annette McCloy and trainer Trey Wood.
The filly has five wins out of eight starts and was com- ing off a victory in her Oct. 16 trial heat to take the fastest qualifying spot in the finals.
Datona Doll was bred in New Mexico by Benny and Donna Smith out of 2-time winner Maggies Miracle LX. She has produced six starters that have tallied 21 wins

When asked about the filly, rider Ricky Ramirez said, “She did it all herself. All I did was hang on. She was much the best horse on that day. I did go to the left hand just a bit to keep her lined out. All the credit goes to the
gates and the finish line, she will give you all she’s got.” When asked about the future, Trey added, “We will let her tell us when she’s ready. Maybe a filly and mare race at Sunland.”
Chickaloni (Jess A Chicks-Machi Moon) fin- ished second under Jose Ortiz for owners David and Ross Hinkins and trainer Larry Chavez.
Third place money went to Frank N Jesse (Jesse James Jr-Famous Poet) who is owned by Renee Carter and Jaye Huseman and trained by Greg Green. Adrian Ramos was in the saddle.
Flash Theory (First Moonflash-Ms Perry Mason), A Blazin Flash (Chicks A Blazin-Flash Me First), Blazin Moon Force (First Moonflash- Blazin Force), Play Misty Foreme (Jesse James Jr-Arbor Mist), Mahallo Moonflash (First Moonflash-Pocketfullachime TB) and Jess Cruzin On By (Jesse James Jr-Woodbridge Duchess) com- pleted the field. Air Force Won was scratched.

Third-fastest qualifier TF Im That Guy earned his first stakes victory in the 440-yard Hobbs America Derby-G3 at Zia Park on Oct. 9.
Racing for Victor M. Diaz of Sunland Park, New Mexico, TF Im That Guy covered his 1/4- mile trip in :21.753 while posting a 93 speed index over a track officially labeled “good.” Samuel Robledo prepped and J.R. Valenzuela rode the sorrel colt.
TF Im That Guy’s mar- gin of victory was 1-length from fastest qualifier and 19-10 favorite Boxwineizfine. TF Im That Guy was com- ing off of a wire-to-wire, 1/2-length victory in the third of five Hobbs America Derby trials on Sept. 25.
The colt has won four of 13 starts, and the $100,207 win- ner’s share of the $208,764 Hobbs America Derby

A $32,000 purchase by Diaz at the 2014 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, TF Im That Guy was bred in California by Vessels Stallion Farm and Tate Farms. The colt is
out of 2009 Firecracker Futurity-G2 winner TF Ms Special Perry. She has pro- duced seven winners from 11 starters, including 2-time stakes winner Not Pretty Perry. TF Im That Guy is the dam’s top earner. TF Ms Special Perry is a half-sister to TF Cajun Cartel, the winner of the April 23, Bob Moore Memorial Stakes-G2. TF Im That Guy’s third dam Deelish, was the sport’s
Champion 2-Year-Old Filly in 1998 and Champion Aged Mare two years later.
Boxwineizfine (Separatist- Onemoreglassofwine) finished second for own- ers Luis Hernandez and Regal Racing Stables, LLC. The sorrel filly was ridden by Sergio Becerra, Jr. for trainer Shae Cox. Thru The Night (Walk Thru Fire-Night Lines) finished third for owner Romualdo Tarango. Adrian Ramos rode the California-bred gelding for trainer Cynthia Gonzalez.
