CRUISINFOURABRUISIN
Cby John Moorehouse
ruisinfourabruisin has never raced outside the
Canadian province of Alberta, but he’s headed to California thanks to his victory in the $26,993 Bank Of America Evergreen Park Championship Challenge at Grande Prairie on Aug. 28.
Barry and Janice Sather homebred Cruisinfourabruisin, who notched his third win in stakes company. This one also punched the four- year-old gelding’s ticket for the Bank Of America Challenge Championship-G1 on at Los Alamitos Oct. 29.
Janice Sather also trains Cruisinfourabruisin, who led at every call of the 440-yard competition. The gelding broke on top from the inside starting gate, opened a 1/2-length lead by the first call and widened the gap to 3/4-length by the time he entered the stretch. That was enough to hold off Mals First Down and reach the wire first by a neck.
Jose Rocha drew the riding assignment as Cruisinfourabruisin completed the race in :21.929, posting a 101 speed index and bringing in a $14,036 payday that pushed his lifetime earnings past the $100,000 milestone to $112,956.
The Sathers also homebred multiple graded stakes placed Tagulator, the dam of Cruisinfourabruisin. She has produced 100% money earners from four starters. Canada Hi-Point 3-Year-Old Gelding Cruisinfourabruisin is her top money earner and first stakes winner.
Mals First Down (Shazoom-First A Princess) placed second under Scott Sterr for owners Charlie Weaselhead and Jim Plume and trainer William Leech.
Charles Stojan owns the third-place finisher, Tiny Flying Corona (Tinys First Corona-PJ Phoebes Flying), who had Ricardo Moreno aboard. William Leech also trains the gelding.
Chicks R Gone (Chickie Cherry Cola-Oso Gone) and Go Corona Luminaire (FDD Dynasty-Corona Del Valle) completed the field.

first time stakes winner L Bar D Sweet Fantsy ran a dead heat in the $19,980 Merial Evergreen Park Distaff Challenge at Grand Prairie in Alberta, Canada, on Aug. 21.
Im Hott Ur Not, a 6-year-old sorrel mare, was all about the number one in this race. She started under Ramiro Castillo from the first post-position, broke first from the gate, and held the lead all the way to the finish, defending her title as last year’s winner of this race. The pair covered the 400-yard track in :20.390 and earned a speed index of 90, but they weren’t alone.
L Bar D Sweet Fantsy, a 4-year-old brown filly, had other plans for the finish under Tyler Walker, matching the time and speed index of the other win- ning pair. She broke from the fifth postposition in third and built her challenge on the lead up in time to dead heat with Im Hott Ur Nott.
Ralph Danard owns Im Hott Ur Not and Laurie Ferguson trains the horse. Dean Frey bred Im Hott Ur Nott out of ROM earner Wild California Rose. The mare has produced 100% money earners from four starters. New Track Record setter/3-time stakes winner Im Hott Ur Nott is her first stakes winner and top earner.
Roberto Ponce owns L Bar D Sweet Fantsy and Hector Magallanes trains the filly. Darrell and Linda Sanders bred her in Oregon out of winner Dash Home Deb. She has produced 100% money earners from seven starters. L Bar D Sweet Fantsy joins the band as a stakes winner with New Track Record set- ter L Bar D Snow Princess, who is the top earner.
