ZOOMIN FOR SPUDS

Zoomin For Spuds clearly has an affinity for the racing strip at Los Alamitos. The 3-year-old geld- ing registered his fourth stakes win of the year at Los Alamitos with a wire-to-wire score in the $20,000 Blane Schvaneveldt Handicap on Sept. 30.
Ridden by Cesar DeAlba, Zooming For Spuds grabbed the lead at the break and controlled the race throughout. He opened a 1-length advantage on the field in the lane and held on to prevail by a 1⁄2 length. He stopped the clock in :19.908 for 400 yards, earn- ing an 88 speed index for trainer Monty Arrossa. With the victory, Zoomin For Spuds now boasts earnings of $95,793 and owns 5 wins from 15 starts. It’s been a productive year for Jim Walker’s Idaho homebred, having also annexed the Wild West Futurity, Costa Mesa Handicap and the Fullerton Handicap, all run at Los Alamitos.
Zoomin For Spuds was bred in Idaho by Jim Walker out of winner A Perfect Cocktail. She has produced 100% money earners from four starters, including multiple stakes winners Bux For Cocktail and Jesses Perfect One.
Arrossa also saddled the runner-up, Katies Easy Moves (Maknmoves-Katie Lane Finder), who was piloted by Jordan Hadley for owners So Smart, LLC and Walter L. J. Finder. The gelding has won his
last four outs including the Sept. 4 Western States Breeders’ Derby at Central Wyoming Fair. Race favor- ite Flyin Lion (Panther Mountain-Flaming Cynthia) finished third under Jesus Ayala for owners Mike and Sherry Reardon and trainer Bill Hoburg. She was coming off a second place finish in the Aug. 13 Merial Los Alamitos Distaff Championship Challenge.
Kissin Kate Barlow (TR Dasher-Apollos Winner), Balata Joe Now (Im Alright Now-Balata), Shez A Motor Scooter (Heza Motor Scooter-Ditto Dotti) and L Bar D Sweet Fantsy (Fantastic Corona Jr-Dash Home Deb) completed the order of finish.

First Prize Chicks surprised seven rivals in the $16,000 Kip Didericksen Handicap at Los Alamitos on Sept. 30, scoring her first win of the
year in the 350-yard dash.
Sent off at odds of 17-1, First Prize Chicks
broke on top from the 7-gate and showed the way early under Cruz Mendez. The 3 year old was never seriously threatened in the lane and rolled to a wire- to-wire 1/2-length victory.
The sorrel filly stopped the timer in :17.597, earning a 92 speed index for trainer Monty Arrossa. Clenching her first stakes win, First Prize Chicks increased her total lifetime bankroll to $21,988 with the $8,800 winners share of the purse for owner Five
Livestock Company, LLC.
First Prize Chicks was bred in Oklahoma by
Weetona Stanley out of unraced First Prize Chic. She has produced 100% money earners from three starters including top earner Chics Love Curls,
a 3-time stakes winner in Mexico, and winner Princess Elsa.
Million Dollar Kiss (Jess Louisiana Blue-Stoli Kiss) finished second under Jesus Ayala for owner Jerry D. Chapman and trainer Bret Vickery. The filly was coming off a third place finish in a Sept. 2 allowance race.
Odds-on race favorite For Sweet Jess (One Sweet Jess-For Some Cash) and jockey Eulices Gomez finished third for owner Ruben Magallanes and trainer Hector Magallanes. The gelding had won his last three outs.
Time For Jesse Lee (Mr Jesse Lee-Time For Noble), MF Jesstacit (MF Jessred-Tacalita Dash), Volcoms Seperator (Volcom-Megas Way), A Good Move (Maknmoves-Switching Fame) and My Friend Cindy (Come On Boots-Sweet Coral Beauty) completed the order of finish. Lil Dip A Nitro and Mypassionsspeed were scratched.
Hazel Park Bonus Challenge

Ashort field, sloppy track, rain falling and a head wind was the setting for the 330-yard Hazel Park Bonus Challenge on Aug. 20. Only four horses answered the call to have a chance at the $15,000 purse.
Famous Bank broke well from the 4-gate under jockey Natasha Fritz. The rider quickly straightened her mount and led in the stretch by 1/2-length. The team crossed the wire a neck in front and stopped the clock at :16.931 to earn a speed index of 95. Famous Bank broke his maiden on the sloppy, sealed track. The gelding now has a race record of 3(1)-1-9(2) from 19 starts.
The sorrel colt earned first place money for his connections that include owner Rodolfo Rodriguez and trainer Saul Perez. Famous Bank previously finished third in the 2015 El Primero Del Ano Derby-G3 and the 2016 Canterbury Champ. Chal.
Bred in Texas by Hector Roldan Arreola, Famous Bank is out of the 2-Time Mexico Champion/AQHA Champion 2-Year-Old Filly/ Mexico Triple Crown Horse/Equal Track Record setter Shake The Bank. and finishing 2nd in the 1995 All American Futurity-G1, she has produced 100% money earn- ers from 14 starters with 25 wins including Mexico Hi-Point 3-Year-Old filly SF Simple Shake, winner of the 2006 Criadores Mexicanos Derby-RG3, and top money earner SF Royal Bank who won the 2008 O. B. Cockerell Handicap-G3 and placed 2nd in the 2007 All American Futurity-G1.
Well Worth It (Carters Cartel-Worth A Look) took the early lead and was just caught at the wire. She collected second place money for her connec- tions that include owner James Barton, Edward
R. Walsh and Michael Kurty and trainer Anthony Cunningham. Cesar Esqueda was in the saddle.
Third place money was pocketed by Folly N Dash (Tempting Dash-Dashin Follies). His con- nections include owner Rodolfo Rodriguez and trainer Saul Perez. The brown 4-year-old gelding gave an even effort with Giovani Vazquez-Gomez in the irons.
Abundanz (Corona Cartel-Jess A Lil Bit More) finished fourth under Santiago Mendez. The sorrel 4-year-old gelding’s connections include owners Gustavo Almanza, Jr. and Francisco Raul Hernandez and trainer Julio Almanza. Bridle Babe was scratched.
