El 20 de Enero de 2018 iniciaron las acciones en el óvalo de carreras del Hipódromo de Las Américas. Al día siguiente se abrió el libro de clásicos con el tradicional Clásico Inaugural, donde fueron inscritos 12 corre- dores de cuatro años y mayores, para dis- putarse una bolsa de $496,400 pesos ($26,636 US aproximadamente), en 350 yardas.
El partidero lleno y gran expectación por la apertura de temporada del 75 aniversario
del hipódromo capitalino. El sitio de honor correspondió a los veloces Cuarto de Milla participantes en este clásico. La atención estuvo centrada en dos ejemplares: Chics Love Curls y Beer Wagon, por la rivalidad deportiva que se estableció en el Clásico Campeón
de Campeones, donde llegaron en tercero y quinto lugar pese a ser amplio favorito Chics Love Curls. Como se informó en su momento, esa tradicional carrera la ganó el sorprendente Jess La Jolla Blue, de la Cuadra Zamarrero.
El momento de las acciones llegó y la prim- era vista de los 12 corceles fue cuando pasaron hacia el ensilladero; ahí fueron acondicionados y abordados por el respectivo jinete, para que al toque de la fanfarria reaparecieran para ser presentados ante la afición que, enseguida se dirigió a las ventanillas de apuesta. Los gladi- adores se retiraron más allá del partidero a ponerse a tono para embestir la arenosa pista. Ya en plena forma, tomaron sus posiciones, hecho puntualmente narrado por el locutor a través del sonido local.
En la partida fue notorio el retraso de Moon Racer Napoleón (5), que al querer hacer carrera vio limitado el espacio y derivó hacia
el interior, ya sin posibilidades de colocarse en la batalla, por lo que no fue exigido. El grupo avanzó y yardas adelante fue visible el choque entre DM Mary Corona (2) y Tempting Splash Dash (1) muy cerca de la baranda interior, mientras Chics Love Curls (3) hacía gala
de su explosiva rapidez, ahora montado por
