it was another successful venture for the Racing Block San Bruno at Hipodromo de las Americas, where, on Aug. 5, their filly
Special Exterior and colt Jack Dupp finished first and second in the Adequan Mexico Derby Challenge. Special Exterior got the win, cross- ing the finish line a head and three hundredths of a second in front of Jack Dupp.
It was a test at 400 yards, in which seven individu-
als were registered to run. The duo cited above was
the betting favorite, despite the participation of Yellow Submarine IB, recent winner of the AQHA Challenge Claiming Stakes, and Just Wanna Have Fun, which did the same in the AQHA Maiden Challenge.
This was the eighth
consecutive win for Special
Exterior, and qualified her
to represent Mexico in the
Adequan Derby Challenge Championship-G1, which will be run Oct. 27 at Prairie Meadows.
The filly had to subdue Volcom Topper, who came from the two gate determined to give her a run for her money. But Special Exterior fully deployed her skills and saved a little push for the last part of the race. This allowed her to keep Jack Dupp from spoil- ing her evening and her string of victories, as seemed to be his intention.
Special Exterior clocked :19.47 for a speed index of 99. Trained by Sergio Flores Lopez Special Exterior was ridden by Eddi Cuellar, who already knows perfectly her race pace and how to calibrate it. The purse was 322,112
pesos ($23,861 U.S.).
Jack Dupp (Feature Mr Jess-Timeless
Favorite), winner of the Quarter Horse Mexican Derby, came in second, ridden by Yair Daniel Baez and saddled by Sergio Flores.
Volcom Topper (Volcom-Jess A Topper), in the last race of his life took possession of third place, ridden by Jose Trinidad Diaz. It belongs
to the Racing Block Victoria M. C., and trained by Eleazar Ruvalcaba.
Completing the field were Mr March (Shazoom- Nonanon), Feature Mr
Cleat (Feature Mr Jess-Cates Cleat), Just Wanna Have Fun (Separatist-Just Wanna Be Me), and Yellow Submarine IB (Looking For Chicks- Habitual Dreamer).

Volcom Topper (Volcom-Jess A Topper),
Los demás participantes concluyeron así: Mr March (Shazoom-Nonanon); Feature Mr Cleat (Feature Mr Jess-Cates Cleat); Just Wanna Have Fun (Separatist-Just Wanna Be Me); Yellow Submarine Ib (Looking For Chicks-Habitual Dreamer).

seven 3-year old or older horses competed for a prize of 513,900 pesos ($38,066 U.S.) in the Bank of America Mexico Championship Challenge on Aug. 26 at Hipodromo de las Americas, with Decati justifying his favored status convincingly, reaching the finish line first while covering
the 440 yards in :21.39 (SI 99) , ridden by Nicolas Otamendi.
A 7-year-old, Decati debuted on June 3, 2012, in the Kisses To Yawl Handicap, defeat- ing Allens Cash, who was undefeated in five official starts and held the 250-yard world record of :12.58.
This time, among his rivals was the 3-year- old filly Special Exterior, with eight straight wins including the AQHA Mexico Derby Challenge. Still, she wasn’t powerful enough to successfully face the big and strong Decati, a son of World Champion Special Leader and out of Mia Ta Fame, by Dash Ta Fame. This,
