SHOULDA KISSED ME

Despite a rough beginning in which she bumped with a rival leaving the starting gate, Shoulda Kissed Me proved her mettle, winning the $42,275
AQRA President’s Fall Futurity at Turf Paradise on Nov. 1 to register the initial victory of her career.
The 2-year-old filly was out on top at the break for jockey Carlos Marquez. She opened a 1/2-length advantage in the lane of the 350-yard fixture and prevailed by a head over a game Heza A Royal Jess, the race favorite.
Shoulda Kissed Me stopped the timer in :17.963 for the wire to wire run, earning a speed index of 88 in her first stakes victory for owner Jose Gallardo. Trained by Jim Crotts, the filly qualified to the race with a 2nd place finish in the Oct. 17 trials for the 4th fastest qualifying time. Shoulda Kissed Me, who was third in the California Breeders Freshman Fillies Stakes, increased her bankroll to $27,548 with the $21,137 winners share.
Christian and Ru Anna Singletary bred Shoulda Kissed Me in California out of multiple Grade 1-placed Love My Corona, who finished 2nd in the 2005 Kindergarten F.-G1 and the 2006 La Primera De Ano D.-G1 en route to career earnings of $129,379. Shoulda Kissed Me is her first stakes winner.
Heza A Royal Jess (Mr Jess Perry-Im Royal Satin) finished second under Albert Medrano for H and E Ranch and trainer Pedro Hernandez-Sandoval. Extra Ordinary Perry (Carters Cartel-Juliette Perry) closed will- ingly late to finish third under Francisco Giles. Ricardo Saldana saddled the bay gelding for owner Joel Tellez.
Followed by YN Shagouti (Agouti-Shaqin It), Domaine (Dominyun-All N The Jeans), Shes Gotta Reason ( Good Reason SA-Mia Jones), Royal Famous Fly (Royaltys Choice-Famous Way To Fly), Whose Your Pappa (Pappasito-Feeling So Sweet) & Finnish N First (First Class Sign-Finn Furr). DQ’d from 9th to last was Askin for Trouble (Onthewingsofglory-A Bardo Special).

ROCKN COWBOY

Making just the 4th start of his young career, Rockn Cowboy joined the ranks of stakes win- ners, dashing to victory in the $26,125 AQRA Turf
Paradise Futurity on Nov. 1.
Saddled by trainer Matthew Fales, Rockn
Cowboy parlayed a clean start to a clear win. Ridden by Jorge Bourdieu, Rockn Cowboy raced in 3rd posi- tion early. He collared Bounty Dash in the lane and drew clear late to score by 1/2-length. The 2-year-old sorrel gelding stopped the timer for 350 yards in :18.044, earning a speed index of 86.
Racing for owners/breeders S. Pierce and Larry Stark, Rockn Cowboy added the winner’s share of $13,063 to his coffers, raising his bankroll to $17,614. The gelding won his Oct. 18 trial for the 2nd fastest qualifying time. Bred in Arizona, Rockn Cowboy is out of the stakes-winning and multiple stakes-placed mare NN Rock N Effort. She is the dam of additional stakes winners Regal Rockn and Rock N Tres Seis.
Bounty Dash (The Bounty Man-Andrea Dash) crossed the finish in the 2nd position but was disquali- fied for drifting out and crowding foes and placed fifth. Original 3rd place finisher, FJ Blackdiamond (The Bounty Man-Sheza Princess Belle) also came in late and was disqualified from 3rd to last.
The disqualifications moved Alazan de Los Pobres (Heza Motor Scooter-Real Fantacia) into the 2nd place spot under Ronald Richard for owner Cesar Dabdoub and trainer Imar Lorta. Veronica Pelayo’s Kedahuefana (Heza Motor Scooter-Kedacorona) crossed the finish in 5th posi- tion under Rodolfo Arvizu for trainer Eloy Mendoza but was awarded 3rd place following the disqualifications.
Bufddd (The Bounty Man-Cartel Moon), Bounty Dash, YN Paloma (Leading Texan- Hawkinsons Chick), Hildas Pearl (Dejon-Fast Pearl), G P Red John (Dejon-Red Glo-TB), Hot Rod Hart (Heza Motor Scooter-Loves What Counts), & FJ Blackdiamond completed the order of finish.
Desert Classic Derby
JESS A COWBOY

Jess A Cowboy picked an opportune time to score his first victory of the year, drawing clear in the lane to win the $18,763 Desert Classic Derby at Turf Paradise on Nov. 1.
Bred by Larry and Phyllis Stark and racing in Larry’s colors, Jess A Cowboy broke out at the start but still managed to assume command and receive the first call under jockey Vince Guerra.
Jess A Cowboy sped away from his seven rivals, including stablemate See Yah Later, and hit the fin- ish with 1 1/4-lengths to spare. He was never headed and covered 350 yards in :17.812, earning a speed index of 93 for winning trainer Matthew Fales.
Victorious in last year’s Arizona QRA Futurity and twice stakes-placed, Jess A Cowboy improved his lifetime earnings to $39,284 with the $9,381 winner’s share of the purse. The Arizona-bred is produced from the five time stakes winner and multiple stakes-placed mare Secret Return, an earner of $74,515 during her racing career.
Fales also saddled second place finisher See Yah Later (Azyoucansee-Loves What Counts). Owned by Ralph and Carolyn Fales, See Yah Later, a stakes-winning juvenile filly in 2014, was ridden by Jorge Bourdieu.
Magical Righter (Righter-BF Fantastic Dream), the 6-5 race favorite and a futurity winner last season at Turf Paradise, rallied late to finish third under David Reyes-Frisby. The 3-year-old filly is owned
by Amanda Casper and is conditioned by Benito Guillen Vega.

Late Dejeuner was scratched.
